  • Can’t use CReW macros in Server

It would be GREAT if we could have an optional notes field in the gallery. When many tools are uploaded to a collection, the titles alone are not descriptive enough for end users. I have to publish a separate "menu" for reports that are available in the gallery. In some cases I have to number them. I wish users could just browse for themselves to find the application that is suitable for their use case.

While adding or editing use permissions in collections, instead of admin option only, there should be option to choose between admin, user (run only) and custom, something like on the attached prinstscreen.

The way it looks now is confusing.

I think it would be good to arranged the Workflow results into tabbed pages by completion status, e.g. a tab for failures, warnings, success, all.  We run about 200 jobs in the morning and have to page through all the workflow results to find failures.

Also would be useful to search workflow results by completion status, e.g. find all workflows that have failed.

I know that the documentation shows that you can setup a worker to a specific QoS so that it will only pick up work for a particular workflow or app, but there could be a greater use for it.

For example if the Admin could control what QoS means for each definition.

I.E. Application, vs a workflow that runs over an hour, vs in-database tools. Then it will allow the admins to self guide where the work is going.

Right now there is only three levels

  • Normal workflow execution: QOS = 0
  • Chained application execution: QOS = 4 (all apps in the chain aside from the last)
  • Workflow validation requests: QOS = 6

This was great for Alteryx public, but for private Galleries we need to distribute the work better than FIFO.

Hi,

I have missing this functionality in alteryx gallery where we can see the runtime status of running app.

In Workflow result option we can view only post completion of app run.

Is Alteryx looking at implementing some kind of feature to provide a preview of impacted objects (lineage view) & understand dataconnections' changes impact before it's implemented ?

Benefits:

  • Help users understand the ramifications of any changes they make on other cards, DataFlows, or DataFusions.
  • Search and explore data lineage.
  • Easily find broken dataflows.
  • Quickly determine the impact of dataconnection changes on the rest of your Site, Collections, Application etc.

DOMO has this well done in their platform, check it out rather than me explaining here..

Search for Data Lineage & Impact Analysis.

In prior projects (before the gallery started acting more like a management console (still would like to see a few more features there too ;) ) , we were able to automate the deployment of the workflows. But there's no good way to automate the deployment of the schedules.

The best I've heard is doing a complete dump of the mongo instance on the lower environment and moving that file and ultimately restoring that to the prod environment (messy).

Even using the Gallery, there will still need to be an admin who goes through the process of setting up schedules to deployed apps.

There should be a REST call to export and import schedules of apps from one environment to the next within the gallery.

Java Version upgrade requires LLS settings to be changed manually and LLS service to be restarted.

so every time there is a java version upgrade,  users have to be notified of the downtime  (even though they could move into 7 day grace period) and then the flexnetls.settings file has to be updated with Java home path.

Local License Server settings has to pick up the latest Java installation and not require manual Config change and service restart.

@Kosi @SeanAdams

Installation/upgrade of java in all servers are usually firmwide Tech team activity - which are outside of Server admins control.

Java support by Alteryx - is version 8.0.212 - while the latest version available in our premise is 8.0.241. support for latest version of java - which is required for functioning of Local License Server should be prioritized.

We're looking to use the worker setting that cancels jobs that run over a certain amount of time. However, In testing we noticed when the server kills the job it does not trigger the workflow event for 'after run with errors'. That said, it does trigger the 'after run without errors' event, but there is no detail in the email as to what happened. This behavior seems counter-intuitive. We primarily use 'after run with errors', so our users could potentially have their workflows cancelled and never hear about it.

is it possible to do one of the following:

  • Trigger the 'after run with errors' workflow event if the server cancels a job
  • Have a server notification that emails users when a job is cancelled due to run length

We're currently running server 2019.1, so please ignore this idea if this issue has been resolved in later releases.

Here is the server setting I am referring to

Have the Alteryx Server send a notification when the license is within a configurable amount of days to being expired via SMTP

Right now we can set the limit of processes a worker can run and each worker will ping the controller when a slot is available so that it can assign a new process. However, this is not efficient and you can truly load balance because you don't know how busy that worker acutally is...

We need a way that might be simliar to how we do on DataStage GRID environment where the LSF platform balances that workload across the entire GRID.

Hello,

I need to monitor which applications are shared with who on regular basis. We follow the 19.2 subscription model to share applications.

Can you extend server usage reports to include such data?

The admin (aka curator) needs to be given more control. The admin should have greater control than the users of the system.

My organization is in the Healthcare industry and we have HIPAA laws to abide by when it comes to data. Not all users should be able to see all data. Developers should not have complete control over the data they publish.

Private studio

  • admin should be able to control if users can publish to Alteryx gallery (compliant issues occur when our organization's data is shared to outside users)
  • admin should be able to control if user can publish to public gallery (compliant issues occur when all users can all see and run workflows)
  • admin should be able to delete subscriptions and users

Collections

  • admin should be able to create collections so they can manage the collections and what users have access to (devs should not be able to give any user access to their workflows)
  • admin should be able to control if users can create new collections (again, compliance issues)
  • admin should be able to grant and remove download of workflow rights
  • admin should be able to delete connections

Get tips from Tableau as they have admin controls down with their permissions process.

I wish Alteryx had an Alteryx gallery not only for workflows but for pure data sources as well which we can access with;

  • freemium license for certain aspects
  • a specific monthly fee or
  • a prepaid model...

And I would like to be able to get weather data as a starter;

  • historical temperature data is one thing and can be found over the internet so this part may be the freemium one...

But especially the most needed aspects are;

  • cloud cover
  • relative humidity
  • average precipitation rate
  • barometric pressure
  • wind chill temperature
  • wind direction in degrees
  • wind gust speed

Obviously 5 day 3 hour forecasts for all these aspects are another thing and probably this will generate some revenue...

This information is so essential in order to accurately forecast

  • credit risk in agricultural lending to
  • planning electricity loads and pricing...

Mathematica (since version 7) and wolfram has this built in already!

http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/symbol.html?symbol=WeatherData

This is the source of data; http://reference.wolfram.com/language/note/WeatherDataSourceInformation.html

Totally agree that maintaining a data source covering worldwide is not an easy task but I think will help Alteryx users and customers a lot...

Hi

My idea is to facilitate scheduling through Gallery vs the separate scheduler built into Designer. The reasons for this:

  1. The current scheduler authentication with Alteryx server via token is a big security concern. This allows all users to see all schedules, workflows, output logs, etc. for the entire server.
  2. It will better interact with the Alteryx 10 version contol. Current scheduler shows all prior versions in the workflow list.
  3. Allow the server/gallery admin to setup scheduling rules. Ex: No scheduling during certain windows (for maintance downtimes), max frequency of scheduling, prevent users from scheduling too many jobs at the same time, user level rules.
  4. Allow scheduled workflow output to be retrieved from the "Workflow Results" section by the user who scheduled the workflow. Ex: I schedule a workflow that takes 2 hours to run at 6AM each day, then by the time I arrive at the office at 8AM, I can login to the gallery and download the output.

Thanks,

Ryan

Idea:

To create an IoT district for the Alteryx Gallery...

Rationale:

Many vendors are now focusing on the IoT wave,

having some examples on IoT use cases would be a nice resource for many...

  • Please star the idea if you like it,
  • Comments are more than welcome

In Gallery 10, List Boxes (that are within a Radio Button) have their contents sorted horizontally.  Previously (Gallery 9.5) the contents of List Boxes was sorted vertically.  This new orientation makes it very difficult to find specific items within the list.  The problem is particularly severe for long lists, when it becomes common for the check box and associated text to become separated on two different lines.

Hello,

Currently we are working on an issue where we are seeing an "inbound pipe" error during a scheduled workflow, terminating at the error.

However, the workflow doesn't officially complete; it simply terminates.

For the majority of workflows, when a workflow runs with errors, completing with errors, even if the workflow was unsuccessful, you can send an email via the events for that workflow, if the workflow completes with errors, to use as an alert or trigger, etc...

However this doesn't work when a workflow suddenly terminates with errors.

I'd like to see functionality added to all ow for an email event when a workflow terminates unexpectedly, without completing.

This way, I could set up a job to re-trigger the workflow if this happens.

This can occur when memory is swamped during the initial workflow.

This functionality would be a huge positive.

Thanks
