As an admin I encourage my team to use API functionality rather than CReW Runner Macros. We had an instance where the Alteryx Engine collapsed because there were quite a few command processes that we think were initialized from CReW Runner Macros.  These macros are not supported in Gallery as they initialize WF's that the controller is not aware of and it might overload the server. In our case we were able to restore the services after rebooting the server.
