Submission GuidelinesHello all,
This may be a little controversial. As of today, when you buy an Alteryx Server, the basic package covers up to 4 cores :
https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Server-Knowledge-Base/How-Alteryx-defines-cores-for-licensing-our-products/ta-p/158030
I have always known that. But these last years, the technology, the world has evolved. Especially the number of cores in a server. As an example, AMD Epyc CPU for server begin at 8 cores :
https://www.amd.com/en/processors/epyc-7002-series
So the idea is to update the number of cores in initial package for 8 or even 16 cores. It would :
-make Alteryx more competitive
-cost only very few money
-end some user frustration
Moreover, Alteryx Server Additional Capacity license should be 4 cores.
Best regards,
Simon
I would like to request a way to manage API connections. This would mean that API connection strings can be administered in the gallery the way data connections can be created, saved and assigned in gallery. This would help in large organizations, to administer API's within specific groups. This will also help the usage report
I think it would be a great feature to include the performance tuning logs as an optional output in Alteryx Server.
- This would allow me the ability to leave performance logging turned on, so I could see what was happening during an automated scheduled run of the workflow.
Performance Log : <Link> (or attachment)
I would also like to see a tool (or tools) as optional outputs such as:
File(s) Generated:
<List of Files: <Link to Files> <Size of File>
These type of outputs would be greatly beneficial options instead of "This Workflow produced No Output"
Thanks for reading

Hi,
It would be nice if scheduled workflow credentials could be linked to the workflow and not the individual versions of the workflow.
It is problematic for the user that they need to remember to reschedule the workflow, whenever they publish a new version of the workflow.
Best,
Daniel
I am looking for a way to secure the server In-DB Connections either based on individual user or using an AD group.
Thanks,
Partha.
If you get server up and running and develop 200 workflows and then schedule them, and then want to change the schedule on one of them, it is a total hassle. What did I call that workflow? you sit there wondering as you look through a huge list of workflows.
It would help a lot to have the concept of projects / folders / some type of logical grouping so I say, What did I call that workflow? while only looking in the public safety, or HR, or Accounting, or whatever subset of workflows. I mean, we don't have to go all crazy and have collections, districts, and private studios, but at least one layer of categorization would go a long way in making a proliferation of workflows more manageable.
Thanks!
I think it would be good to arranged the Workflow results into tabbed pages by completion status, e.g. a tab for failures, warnings, success, all. We run about 200 jobs in the morning and have to page through all the workflow results to find failures.
Also would be useful to search workflow results by completion status, e.g. find all workflows that have failed.
I have my component set to email me if it errors, which is great. But then when it does bork, I get a 6M email that is impossible to scroll through on a mobile device. Maybe give an option to only email the error line / tool identifier so you have a better idea of what happened, but don't get war and peace as told by info logging.
What is the Purpose of Server when there is no Sharing?
Alteryx Server/ Gallery Lacks a Basic functionality, All Studio Users should be able to see Workflows published to that Studio.
The Legacy tool has atleast controller key where everyone can see all workflows on the server , but in new versions, we can only see if we are the owner of that workflow? how does this make sense in an Enterprise?
Idea :
Enable to see server scheduled workflows by all studio users in a studio.
When scheduling in Gallery and creating a recurring daily schedule, if you a start time of 7AM @ any time after 7am you also have to click the date on a day, for the schedule start date, else the you will receive an error message. Please click the date on automatically, after all if the time is after 7am you can't schedule a job to run at 7am today.
When opening an workflow from the Gallery in Designer, I'd like to be able to filter the search by collection
A little 1 I know, but I'd like an icon on my toolbar where I can open workflows from my company's gallery. The amount of times I hit the open workflow icon, to then have to browse the disk. All my workflows are stored in my company's gallery.
For large implementations of Alteryx - you'd want to have a live control-center view that allows you to see:
- The state of health of all the server components
- the depth of the queue in the controller
- Jobs failing vs. succeeding.
While this can be done by running alteryx jobs, and by going and looking for problems - what we'd want is to have a heads-up control center view which is self-refreshing all the time so that administrators can be notified when there are issues. And this should not be e-mail notification (it's too easy to miss an e-mail or an SNMP alert)
Think about a 40 inch monitor on a wall (like in a traffic control center) that allows the server management team to see the state of health of the plant at a glance, and dive into issues without having to constantly be looking for them. this is a critical capability for enterprise install-base and would be a very useful capability to add to the platform.
There needs to be a means for Server Admins to delete/clean up subscriptions and users from the system.
Ref: https://help.alteryx.com/server/11.0/admin/index.htm#Administration/Users.htm%3FTocPath%3DAdminister..., “To revoke a user's access to Gallery, deactivate their user account. You cannot delete a Gallery user's account.”
While testing with version 11.0, default permissions set to NO ACCESS, Security using Windows Active Directory, I gave the gallery URL to a random teammate to see what they could access. While permissions prevented the individual from most activities, the server still created a USER and SUBSCRIPTION for the individual. Once testing was completed, there was no means possible to clean up these entries., or at least to do more than set them to NO ACCESS.
For most enterprise applications, it is common practice to be able to purge a user account from a system if they are no longer a member of the company.
Hello,
When trying to move and order the districts, it gives the impression that you can organize them in a particular order..
But what comes out on the Gallery side remains in Alphabetical order..
Can this bug be fixed please
Hello Alteryx,
I know that it wasn't intended to have a long list of people under permission, but because changing a default to viewer, effects everyone we have to manually input everyone we want to have as an artisan.
With this long list it would be nice to sort them accordingly
Thank you
I would like the ability to add a workflow description on Alteryx server. This step would be done after the workflow is published, this way future edits can be made without having to republish the workflow. A checkbox to allow HTML content would also be appreciated.
The default view at gallery home page time will not support long titles for your workflows. I have several that get cut off with . . . . . and you need to hover over in order to get the full title. You can select a list view, which helps, and gives you more metadata, but you have no mechanism to save your table / list view as a default. Administrators should have the option to define a default view (tabular / list) and have it default that way for everyone who gets there, authenticated or not.
If you goto a private studio, you get the list view option. If you go to a collection, you get the list view option. If you goto a district, you don't get a list / table option set, just table set. Why?
There does not seem to be a way to set a (list of) favorite(s), even as an administrator. There should be a quick-hit button option to get you there, add it to a favorites collection, something. It seems like we went a long way to generate three different builds of ways to organize workflows, but left out the one that is most universal in similar tools. 'My favorites'.
The search criteria for adding a workflow to a collection *mandates* that you have a space, but doesn't tell you that is why you are not getting any hits; i.e., 'Water' and 'Water ' will give you 'no results found', or anything with water in the title respectively. Ugh.
In prior projects (before the gallery started acting more like a management console (still would like to see a few more features there too ;) ) , we were able to automate the deployment of the workflows. But there's no good way to automate the deployment of the schedules.
The best I've heard is doing a complete dump of the mongo instance on the lower environment and moving that file and ultimately restoring that to the prod environment (messy).
Even using the Gallery, there will still need to be an admin who goes through the process of setting up schedules to deployed apps.
There should be a REST call to export and import schedules of apps from one environment to the next within the gallery.
Best,
dK
Sometimes when using someone else's Gallery App which has a long list of options to select from, I will hit Run before realizing that I haven't set all of the options. Then, the App fails (obviously).
Rather than just getting a message that my app run failed on the Gallery, it would be nice to have a link then that automatically re-loads the previous options I had set so I would be able to see which option I didn't fill out properly.
When viewing the schedule viewer with more than the default per page workflow amount of 25 workflows, if you sort it only sorts in the 25 in the current page. I would expect it to first sort all workflows then show the first 25, and actually used the interface with this as my expectation for longer than i'd care to admit, leading to a large amount of confusion when i for some reason couldn't figure out why workflows that i scheduled were not showing up. Obviously this is down to user error and now that i understand it i don't have any issue, but at the same time, why would the sort not apply before population of the list?
Interested to know if i'm the only one who's been annoyed by this.
