The community for a solution or existing idea before posting
By clicking the like in the top left corner of an idea you support
A new idea to suggest a new community feature or improvement
It should be possible to 'like' a reply to an idea posted on the community.
Many times users post workarounds, hints, or maybe even full solutions to people's ideas and the ability for the original poster and other community members to like these would be valuable to show appreciation.
Furthermore, I think it would be great to have the ability to mark idea replies as a solution and/or a workaround. I see this is already an idea, so will up-vote @Claje's post here: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Community-Ideas/Add-a-way-for-Idea-posts-to-be-quot-Solved-...
For instance, take this example here, where I hope I've posted a good workaround for @MuralidharAreti : https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Ideas/Comment-blocks-Headings-subheadings-warning-...
It would be nice if we could present the Community Private Messages board into a in more conversation style layout (something like Outlook or Gmail).
Currently, Received and Sent messages are stand-alone pages, and it gets difficult to refer back to a previous message in a given thread without opening them in a new browser tab.
Can we have a quote reply button for posts? This is a feature request for the entire Alteryx Community platform.
Why?
When replying to an existing post in the middle of a conversation, the reply still goes to the end of the topic.
Can we have the reply include a link to the initial post so that the context of the reply is not lost? Not all replies relate to the parent post of the topic but can relate to a later comment in the middle of the topic.
I find it especially relevant to weekly challenges discussions when talking about other people's solutions. As a standalone post, it does not make sense when it has no relation to the parent solution. E.g.
Either a quote reply button or threaded conversation feature will improve the flow of conversation in the community.
Can we have a guide on how to utilize community macros? Under My Settings>Macros there are a lot of slots for different macros, but no explanation of what they are, how to use them, or even when they should (and should not) be used.
Hi,
Are there any plans to add a change of username option to the Profile settings area of the page, where you can currently change other information such as your Avatar etc? I can't think of a site where I have to contact admin to change my username or email address, so it seems like a worthwhile feature!
Linked to this, I couldn't see an appropriate place in the Ideas section under which to post. Is there an "Ideas" section for the Community which could cover suggestions like these?
Thanks
Given the certification exams are accessed through the community, I would like the option to have 2 step authentication on my profile by registered email address/phone SMS. Is it possible to add this as a feature within the profile settings so that those who would like to add more security to their profile are able to do so?
Are there plans to have a learning path for the advanced certification? The core certification learning path was really helpful and it will be great to have an equivalent for the advanced certification.
Many (all?) of the dates used in the community site are following the US date format, i.e. MM-DD-YYYY. However, in many places around the world, the standard date format is DD-MM-YYYY. Being a 'crossover' from Oz to US, I'm aware of the difference, but many will not be.
Could we use a more obvious format that makes it clear to both sides? I find the YYYY-MM-DD to work well for this purpose, as well as for sorting. But there are other formats that could work, e.g. DD-MMM-YYYY or MMM DD, YYYY.
Including Alteryx youtube videos of presentations in Global Search would be great! (or include them as reference under tool documentation). Finally found my answer with a google search! E.g., this video on the network analysis tool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsDZIc02SkQ
Wouldn't it be great to have the option to share a bit more information on your user profile page?
I'm talking about:
- Full name
- Profile
- Location
- Who you work for
- Industry
- Links to social media
- Favourite colour
- First pet's name
- You get the idea.......
The first three are the biggies. It's nice to be able to get a sense of who people are, and to share a bit of who you are with others, and the profile page feels like the perfect place to do this (although it goes without saying that none of this should be mandatory).
maybe the monthly update could include counts of newly certified community members in the monthly post?
Cheers,
Mark
With the growing popularity of Alteryx challenges, the new topics gets lots of "noise" as challenge posts are made. Could we either filter these messages to their own tab (for those interested in the real-time updates of challenge solution posts) or just remove them from notifications? When you're logged-in to the community, you get lots of these messages.
Cheers,
Mark
When I click My Profile, I can see posts I've starred. But every time I want to see my bookmarks, I have to think about how to get to the list of my bookmarks.
The current navigation of My Settings > Subscriptions & Notifications > My Bookmarks
is not very intuitive.
Would it be possible to add my list of bookmarks under My Profile, or at least put Starred Posts and My Bookmarks together somewhere?
Hi all,
I love the (somewhat) new look of the community. It's much more helpful to find what you're looking for through search and the menu buttons on the left. One small enhancement I would request is a better fitting of the menu icons along the left side of the page. It might be my smaller screen size (Lenova Yoga 920) but not all of the menu items fit to my screen. So I have to use the mouse wheel to scroll to see all of the buttons (the Alteryx Resources button!). And the situation gets worse when you hover over the menu to scroll as it adds a box displaying the URL of the page (see screenshot below), which further hides the Alteryx Resources menu item (I actually didn't even realize it existed for a few months). Also, once I do scroll to the bottom to see the Alteryx Resources menu, the submenu suffers from the same cutoff problem as well (second screenshot attached).
If this is an easy fix, it would be much appreciated!
Menu button for Alteryx Resources hidden
Submenu for Alteryx Resources hidden
Thanks,
John Miller
This mainly comes as an idea due to the Weekly Challenge threads which get an overwhelming number of replies compared to other threads.
Hello Team - Maybe a simple fix, but could you please change the color of the font with which the names of the user groups leads are written. Most of the time, it's barely visible.
Currently, there is no consolidated group for Alteryx For Good where individuals can join as members or post a blog or recent visit post. (I understand co-lab is there but it is very different from the ask)
The suggestion is to create a separate tab under - Alter Nation tab of the community portal similar to Women of Analytics.
This will help all the AFG enthusiasts to stay updated about the news and events happening across the world and also take some learnings from each other's visits and implement it in their respective regions.
This will also generate more excitement about Alteryx For Good and eventually trigger more Good to the community!!!
Hi all,
Is there a way to find out whether the solution to the weekly challenge has been accepted?
Is it also possible to track the status of the challenges - e.g. which ones have been replied to, and of them which have been solved?
Many thanks!
To make it easier to find the latest download for Alteryx... it was easy when it was downloads.alteryx.com but then it changed to licenses.alteryx.com and I wasted some time trying to find a way to get to it. It could also just be a link under Getting Started or Alteryx Resources, I know it's out there as a link somewhere but more a more visible and prominent option would be nice. Something like my wonderful artist rendition below:
How about having a page dedicated to the Grand Prix? It could include a virtual trophy and bios of the winners (even the participants). It might also be interesting to have links to the actual problems that they had to solve and potentially even have the data too for download. Videos of the winning experiences would be a bonus.
Cheers,
Mark
