Submission GuidelinesHello all,
This may be a little controversial. As of today, when you buy an Alteryx Server, the basic package covers up to 4 cores :
https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Server-Knowledge-Base/How-Alteryx-defines-cores-for-licensing-our-products/ta-p/158030
I have always known that. But these last years, the technology, the world has evolved. Especially the number of cores in a server. As an example, AMD Epyc CPU for server begin at 8 cores :
https://www.amd.com/en/processors/epyc-7002-series
So the idea is to update the number of cores in initial package for 8 or even 16 cores. It would :
-make Alteryx more competitive
-cost only very few money
-end some user frustration
Moreover, Alteryx Server Additional Capacity license should be 4 cores.
Best regards,
Simon
2021.4 Server comes with a ton of new great features.
The one that shouldn't be implemented is moving away from Alteryx initial intentions of being a place of data artisans, and turning the Gallery into a Spreadsheet.
A homepage should feel like home. It should have the flexibility to customize it for each Organization to move workflows, pictures, and notes around to guide the user to the application they need to run their workflow.
Most people using the HomePage Gallery aren't major developers, but new users or even non-analysts who want to run an app to get the report they need.
Please don't go backward by taking away flexibility, readability, and increasing difficulty to understand and get to an app.
But give more freedom to Alteryx Admins to customize and make the user experience even better.
Lean more into these ideas where we can showcase and feature apps and show descriptions of tools
Just like your homepage we should be able to show videos and use negative spacing to help guide users, and be able to scroll down the page
Instead, you took away all spaces and tried to turn everything into raw data. There were spaces and extra lines on the app, but it's all stripped away on the Gallery in 2021.4
Again, lean into your roots of canvases where each artisan can design and put tools and items that make sense to them and their Organization.
Please add features... don't take them away
Hello,
It would be beneficial to have integration between Alteryx and SIEM solutions, and send all Alteryx logs to the SIEM solution just like any other IT solution. The reason is to comply with the policies of customers, where InfoSec team must have centralized logging for all systems and hence a holistic view of the security posture for the infrastructure.
An Example of this would be seeing logs concerning change of user privileges' and system settings (on the SIEM).
Currently it's impossible to tell which worker a job is running on. Add a column to the jobs view that shows what worker a job is currently running on.
Currently, if we want to assign a worker node it has to be done at the workflow level. It would be very helpful to be able to make a rule that auto-assigns the type of workflows to a specific node, so all apps go to one, all schedules go to another, etc.
At the very least, if there was an API endpoint to update specific items on a workflow (such as node), this would work as well as we could then build a process that auto-assigns.
Thanks!
Our company prefers to setup active directory groups to manager our users and resources separately for better tracking of what a group has access to. We setup global group roles with users as members and local groups with privileges to a resource and the role as a member. We would like to be able to use nested global groups in the User>groups and have it still setup the users once a nested group is setup. Attached his the priv group an role. We were not able to login with the priv group, but could login once the role group was added.
Thanks
Hello Brainstrust,
Small request here (i think) , we are exclusively using Alteryx Gallery to host and orchestrate workflows in our enterprise.
As we are connecting to disparate datasources involving many odbc connections and file paths at times when we are configuring a new source on all of our workers there may be a misconfiguration or misstep in the implementation.
When this happens , there is an intermittent failure and unfortunately its not visible what worker ran the workflow, I know this is visible in the thick client scheduler experience but as we are trying to drive Gallery as the one user experience it would be good if it was visible here too... screen shot below.
I would like to see ability to limit the number of versions a user can save of a workflow. As a server environment ages we start to see the database become unnecessarily larger because the number of version of workflows. For servers related to DEV and QA environments as an Admin I would like to be able to say users can keep their 10-25 most recent versions of their workflows. Then anything over that will start to auto-delete just like the auto save feature in Designer.
As a part of the installation process or Configuration setting for Alteryx Server , can there be an option added to turn on "Subscription API" enabled for ever
It used to be possible to create a robust user profile within the gallery, with many additional user details fields available. However all have been taken away leaving only a name and email address as a user profile.
Please bring back those user details as having additional information about the user always beneficial. If internal to the company, sometimes I need to know what department they are from or what office. And if external to the company, I need to know what organization they are from.
Having no additional user information can cause a lot of confusion, especially if any two users share a name since I don't know if it's the same user with a new email, or a different user completely.
Thanks.
We have configured the service account for Alteryx services on workers, controllers and Gallery. Kindly go through the below problem statement and current scenario and help to provide solution.
I will appreciate if we can setup a 30 minutes call and discuss on it.
Purpose/Current Design :
Problem Statement :
As we have added service LAN account in multiple AD groups [ global and local ] it has become member of 440+ groups which has resulted in the approx.. token size to 8421.
Active directory has a limit of having approx.. token size to 10000 (10k) for LAN accounts and after that it will fail to authenticate with AD ; which will result in failure of starting Alteryx services.
Please refer below link to know what exactly issue we are facing and looking solution from Product team[Alteryx].
https://www.jijitechnologies.com/blogs/active-directory-token-bloat
We are looking from the Alteryx team :
We already explored the option you suggested [https://help.alteryx.com/current/server/credentials] but as per our firm’s password policy we cannot save/use/withdraw privilege account passwords.
Because if we go with the suggested option we have to add the particular accounts in Windows server privilege group [ Log on as service, App_Security Logon locally and run batch job].
To meet compliant policy ; Any account which is privilege should be considered as app to app account and it should be integrated with Microsoft’s gMSA or CyberArk’s EPV-AIM solution to be on boarded account in vault. [ No human interaction with account ]
Feel free to reach out to me for any additional clarifications.
Currently we have built-in authentication for Alteryx Server.
In that state, the Default user role of Gallery is set to "Artisan",
If you sign up to create a new user and log in,
It will be registered as "Viewer".
I want the default user to be valid even with the built-in authentication.
I would like to have the ability to configure my company's Gallery to display more than five applications/workflows to a page. This is a waste of screen space and creates unnecessary clicks for browsing.
As part of the Persistence Expiration processes, within Designer we have the ability to set a retention threshold of the results tab. i.e. 30 days.
After enabling this - all completed results are purged but all the "error" results remain. And this depending on the original count can run into the thousands, such as in my environment. Id like to see the "Error" results become part of the clean up processing because of the following reasons:
1. We do not have dedicated admins that have time to manually or by group delete these error result items.
2. Most if not all - errors are resolved immediately. if there were to be kept as a reference, a screen shot of the results are normally taken and filed away.
Support says this is intentional for resolution tracking purposes - but to counter - as I stated in item 2 - most errors are immediately looked at and worked on. So there is no reason to keep errored results. Especially when they are time-stamped dates greater than the expiration values selected.
Currently only 5 workflows are displayed per page in a collection. Currently we have about 30 workflows (soon to be about 100) and paging through workflows to find the one you want to run is time consuming.
It would be great if there was an option on the page so the user could select the number of workflows per page.
The current Enterprise Utility Workflow does not have a match/look-up in place between the two environments for user ID's. Thus, the migration workflow doesn't work without adding in a couple extra API calls. When we upgrade to a new version of the utility, I have to add this back in.
It would be nice if the workflow would come with this already configured.
Workflows which are scheduled and continuously failing in a row 5 times need to stop/disable the schedule. Sent a mail to the workflow owner stopped schedule due to continuous error.
For Administrating the schedule workflows this feature helps a lot. Many users create workflows and dump into server and schedule it and forgot it if we implement this strategy, it will be helpful to both users and Admin team.
Hello! We just upgraded to 23.2, and I see in v3 an endpoint to start a job (v3/workflows/{id}/jobs) and then another to get that job's status (v3/jobs/{jobID}). Compared to v1, I think the outputs endpoint is missing (v1/jobs/{jobID}/output/{outputID}). I'd love for this to be added so we can upgrade from v1 to v3.
I want to let my artisans choose the collaboration option when sharing dcm sources. Currently they'd have to be promoted to curators to do this.
On the Job page, in addition to seeing the worker tag that a job is running on, it would be great to see which server the job is running on to ensure the work is being spread out and look for bottle necks. We have a group on servers broken down into Small , Medium and large with several servers in each group. Looking at the current screen, you can not tell what server a job is running on within the group. Example, 'Large' has 3 servers with 4 jobs running on it. But you can not identify which server the job is running on.
I develop workflows or analytical apps in the Designer and save them in a Gallery. If I need the setting "Always run this workflow with these credentials", I have to type in my username and password every single time I want to save it, even in the same Designer session. This is very annoying and results in saving the workflows much more seldom than I would do if I did not have to type in the credentials every single time.
My idea is to cache the credentials (login name and password) for one Designer session. It would be perfect if it was for the entire Designer session for multiple files. But even if it was specific to the opened file it would help.
Result would be:
