I was posting a question today about sorting, but didn't see a label for sort, sorting, or a question label. Not sure what the qualifications are for making the label list, but I suggest that "Question" and "Sort" be added.

Hi,

When trying to help someone on the Community, answer may differ depending on installed version.

It could be useful to know display -if agreed- the product(s) and version(s) owned by someone to make interactions more efficient. Example: files for Python tool would not be placed in the same folders depending on the version.

Pros:

- Helps with providing answers adapted to user's context

Cons:

- If user upgrades her/his version then post will lose its context

Thanks,

PaulN

First off, want to thank Alteryx for the nice AfG gesture. I believe there would be a LOT of people that want to take advantage of it globally. To that end, it would be great to have a Introduce yourselves section/thread where people can go and say hello. I have engaged in some online learning (both MOOC and otherwise) and any class where people get to know each other automatically becomes more engaging. You already have a lot of social elements built-in (photo, cool "rank" names and such) but no social kick-off. This thread could potentially be it!

obvious extensions would be;

  • ideas.alteryx.com
  • usergroups.alteryx.com
  • usecases.alteryx.com

and of course

  • support.alteryx.com 🙂

thanks

Can we have a quote reply button for posts? This is a feature request for the entire Alteryx Community platform.

Why?

When replying to an existing post in the middle of a conversation, the reply still goes to the end of the topic.

Can we have the reply include a link to the initial post so that the context of the reply is not lost? Not all replies relate to the parent post of the topic but can relate to a later comment in the middle of the topic.

I find it especially relevant to weekly challenges discussions when talking about other people's solutions. As a standalone post, it does not make sense when it has no relation to the parent solution. E.g.

Either a quote reply button or threaded conversation feature will improve the flow of conversation in the community.

Is it possible for the video training index and weekly challenge index to be embedded as an interactive table that can be sorted and filtered to each community user's individual preference especially for videos. The alphabetical sorting of the videos is not user-friendly when you just want to see the Spatial analytics videos sorted by date order or Alteryx version. Some training sessions were repeated and I want to easily pick the latest training for the particular topic (e.g. Parsing Dates and Times). I may want to group the videos by a particular topic or difficulty level especially when preparing for certification exams. Alphabetical order is not the best order for someone using it to preparing for exams.

We have a lot of weekly challenges and being able to search, sort and filter will make it more user-friendly when using for exam preparation. I would like to be able to group the challenges by topic and sort by level of difficulty so that I can easily work my way in progressive level of difficulty from top to bottom within a particular topic. Outside exam preparation, chronological order from newest to oldest works better as we now have a large number of weekly challenges accumulated and not having to scroll down to get to the latest challenge would be most welcome.

We currently have ideas boards for Designer; promote; Connect and server; along with this Community ideas board.

Could we please add an ideas board for the SDK; which would be the place to log ideas for:

- SDK for formulae (I'm looking at you @jdunkerley79 )

- SDK for using the API in various APIs across the product stack

- SDK for building custom plugins (HTML; C++; Python)

That would also align well with the fact that there's already a discussion board for the SDK

It would be a large convenience for Alteryx to offer one sign-in with Microsoft Azure? (i.e. if someone is logged into the EY network and navigated to Alteryx.com they would automatically be signed in). This would be particularly useful for strategic partners of Alteryx as they could better track who is certified and who has taken which Alteryx Academy trainings as all users would map to the work email.

there should be an option to display a newsfeed that can be customized by the user. Notifications could be color-coded to correspond with its "parent" category (e.g., Discussions, Knowledge, Ideas, Blogs, etc.). The feed should be as flexible/customizable as possible (e.g., mute discussion, reply flag, pinning, etc.). It'd also be great if users had the ability to drag-n-drop items they want added to their feed.

This mainly comes as an idea due to the Weekly Challenge threads which get an overwhelming number of replies compared to other threads.

TWIMC,

Our team loves the weekly exercises and value the lessons learned-- or should I say earned--  from them each week. However, finding them is a little, well, weird especially when I am trying to explain how to find them to colleagues: "Well, so, you go to search, type weekly and then select results from the last week and then each of the previous weeks exercises will be held in that most recent workbook. Smiley Frustrated" What I would love to see is these in their own space within the community so one would not have to search for them each week. Bonus points if we were able to DL all workbooks as a single zip that we could have for new-hire training material!

Cheers,

John

It would be great if there were a way to see the all the product ideas I've starred. Right now, if I want to review those ideas I'm going to need to scroll through all of them looking for gold stars. Perhaps some kind of activity log in the user profile could provide us with this information?

It may be nice to be able have quicker access to social media for shareing questions, solutions, challenges...

On facebook, twitter with shortcut links to community, instagram with workflow and tool pictures etc...

By the way;

Have you voted in the @kdnuggets Analytics poll? Support @alteryx only tool both in gartner's BI and Analytics MQ ow.ly/OgQk300eTvE

I'd like to have the "Mark All as Read" option in the Knowledge Base like it is in other sections. Not that I could ever read them all, but this is my system for identifying new posts.

From my perspective, the Text Input tool would benefit from some adjustments.

Allow set the column data type in the tool

Currently, Alteryx tries to identify the data type of a column based on the input. But is "1" a bool, integer, or a string? Of which type is an empty field? Quite often, Alteryx does not select the intended data type.

Example:

Idea: Allow to define the data type in the Text Input tool:

Improve input window for long content

Currently inputting long text to Text Input cells is nearly impossible. Extending the window size is also limited. Please allow horizontal scrolling within a cell and/or line breaks within cells.

Given the security and privacy concerns, we'd like to disallow users from making any workflows "public". I suppose that this should be a global setting that can be tuned on/off to allow/disallow Public workflows in the gallery.

It would be great to add a way for users to mark questions as solved if another user has posted a valid solution for a topic. I often find myself opening posts to try and help answer their questions only to find that a solution has already been provided but the topic was left unresolved. Maybe some logic can be added to only allow this option if the post is over a month old. That way, the original author still has a chance to mark the question as resolved. Otherwise, active users can help clean up the posts by marking questions as resolved by selecting the provided solution.

Currently there's only the Curator role that can perform admin functions in Gallery. This role is too broad. We would like to have a separate admin role that can only perform user management but nothing else. Likewise, we would like an admin role that can manage workflows/collections, view metrics etc, but cannot do user management (view/add/edit/delete users). Such more fine-grained roles are necessary in IT management where strict separation of duties is a mandate.

A Curator can see all workflows and their general info in the Admin area.  This is fine.  However, a Curator can also paste the app ID of a workflow in his/her regular gallery view and can download the workflow even if the workflow is not shared directly with the Curator.

For example, a user (regardless of role) access a workflow that's shared with him/her like this:

https://<alteryx server hostname>/gallery/#!app/<workflow name>/<workflowId>

A Curator can paste the workflowId of a workflow that he/she does not have access to in the URL, and access the workflow to download it. We think that this is a security/IP risk as we do not want our Curators (system admins, Support reps) to be able to perform such an action.

As of now, if a community member has to access the community, there are 2 ways:

1. Log in to the website from Desktop

2. Log in to the website from Mobile

When we are working on Alteryx workflows, it makes sense that accessing from Desktop is the best.

But when we are away from Desktop and having a conversation on a thread, it get's really bad from a user experience perspective that we have to go to browser, login and then access the community.

I think Alteryx should develop iOS and Android App for the community. It will increase the engagement of community members considerably.

Thanks!
