It would be nice if we could present the Community Private Messages board into a in more conversation style layout (something like Outlook or Gmail).

Currently, Received and Sent messages are stand-alone pages, and it gets difficult to refer back to a previous message in a given thread without opening them in a new browser tab.

Can we have a quote reply button for posts? This is a feature request for the entire Alteryx Community platform.

Why?

When replying to an existing post in the middle of a conversation, the reply still goes to the end of the topic.

Can we have the reply include a link to the initial post so that the context of the reply is not lost? Not all replies relate to the parent post of the topic but can relate to a later comment in the middle of the topic.

I find it especially relevant to weekly challenges discussions when talking about other people's solutions. As a standalone post, it does not make sense when it has no relation to the parent solution. E.g.

Either a quote reply button or threaded conversation feature will improve the flow of conversation in the community.

Can we have the ability to search or organize our bookmarks? With so much great content, it's hard to keep similar bookmarks together. Some communities allow you to save articles under different collections, but at the very least, I think it would be useful to search through things you have already bookmarked (eg."Now, where did I read that?).

Given the certification exams are accessed through the community, I would like the option to have 2 step authentication on my profile by registered email address/phone SMS. Is it possible to add this as a feature within the profile settings so that those who would like to add more security to their profile are able to do so?

Is it possible for the video training index and weekly challenge index to be embedded as an interactive table that can be sorted and filtered to each community user's individual preference especially for videos. The alphabetical sorting of the videos is not user-friendly when you just want to see the Spatial analytics videos sorted by date order or Alteryx version. Some training sessions were repeated and I want to easily pick the latest training for the particular topic (e.g. Parsing Dates and Times). I may want to group the videos by a particular topic or difficulty level especially when preparing for certification exams. Alphabetical order is not the best order for someone using it to preparing for exams.

We have a lot of weekly challenges and being able to search, sort and filter will make it more user-friendly when using for exam preparation. I would like to be able to group the challenges by topic and sort by level of difficulty so that I can easily work my way in progressive level of difficulty from top to bottom within a particular topic. Outside exam preparation, chronological order from newest to oldest works better as we now have a large number of weekly challenges accumulated and not having to scroll down to get to the latest challenge would be most welcome.

We currently have ideas boards for Designer; promote; Connect and server; along with this Community ideas board.

Could we please add an ideas board for the SDK; which would be the place to log ideas for:

- SDK for formulae (I'm looking at you @jdunkerley79 )

- SDK for using the API in various APIs across the product stack

- SDK for building custom plugins (HTML; C++; Python)

That would also align well with the fact that there's already a discussion board for the SDK

Are there plans to have a learning path for the advanced certification? The core certification learning path was really helpful and it will be great to have an equivalent for the advanced certification.

I like getting email notifications from the Alteryx Community because I often post solutions in Designer Discussions, and knowing when someone has responded without having to keep the Community open all the time helps me to better answer questions.

However, the Weekly challenges are a flurry of activity, and they continue to be active basically forever. I can unsubscribe individually from each Challenge I complete, but that adds an additional step for every single challenge.

I'd really appreciate being able to specifically turn off notifications, or notifications on replies to a thread, in specific forums, like the Weekly Challenges forum.  This would let me better customize my experience.

It would be a large convenience for Alteryx to offer one sign-in with Microsoft Azure? (i.e. if someone is logged into the EY network and navigated to Alteryx.com they would automatically be signed in). This would be particularly useful for strategic partners of Alteryx as they could better track who is certified and who has taken which Alteryx Academy trainings as all users would map to the work email.

With the growing popularity of Alteryx challenges, the new topics gets lots of "noise" as challenge posts are made.  Could we either filter these messages to their own tab (for those interested in the real-time updates of challenge solution posts) or just remove them from notifications?  When you're logged-in to the community, you get lots of these messages.

Cheers,

Mark

Every month the fantastic @LeahK posts the Community Top Contributors blog (Link to last month's post).

These include information on the Top Star Authors and Top Solution Authors for the given month.

Today, there is a default view of a rolling 30 days of history for most-starred and most solutions, which is really cool, since you can see who has contributed a good idea or solution recently.

However, as a somewhat competitive person who enjoys gamification probably a little bit too much, there is a problem!  There is currently no way (that I am aware of) to see how many solutions a user has since the month started.  What this means is that it is rather difficult to tell who is at the top of the leaderboard for the month until the month ends.

As an example, as of the time of this writing, I am #3 on the Solution Authors leaderboard for the last 30 days, with 28 solutions, putting me one full solution above @MarqueeCrew.  However, if I dig into my posting history, I solved a post about splitting strings in SQL on 10/29, which means that when I look at my November Solutions, I actually only have 27!  Mark and I are tied!  This gets even more complicated if I then want to try and find out if Mark has any solutions from late October that might go away, and before you know it I've spent 15 minutes writing an idea post about this topic because I've dug myself into an analytics pit!

Having a view in the Stars Leaderboard and Solution Authors Leaderboard for "Month to date", which would include all solutions since the first of whatever month we are in, would help me with my gamification of community time, and would enhance my experience.  Since this would reset to 0 on the first of every month, I understand why the view is not as interesting for front-page status, but having it as a time range option would be awesome!

EDIT: Since I started writing this post about 20 minutes ago and now, one of my recent solutions "expired", and Mark and I are tied!

This mainly comes as an idea due to the Weekly Challenge threads which get an overwhelming number of replies compared to other threads.

In today's day and age, we are constantly on the move and we may not always have access to the laptop/desktop that we have installed Alteryx on. While on the move and no access to the Alteryx installed computer, it would be great to login to the Alteryx Community Simulator to test or solve a problem or try a new field, formula, etc. to see how the results would look.

Today, when scrolling through "Hot" Ideas - those with a lot of activity on them, I often come across features which have a status of Duplicate or Not Planned.

Having these in the "Hot" list makes it harder to easily scan ideas and star those that I consider important or valuable.

Pushing these results down in the list would help improve the Idea browsing experience in my opinion!

Congratulations!  You've ______________ 5 times this week.  Some new gamification ideas to reward continuous involvement in the community.

Hi,

This is similar to some other requests I've posted in the past relating to badges.

When I look at my profile ( https://community.alteryx.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/4671) I see a series of badges sorted by earned date - so the most recently earned badges are at the top.  This is a helpful listing, but as new badges are earned, some really cool ones float off the page.  For example, my Core Certification badge moved off recently, and the Advanced Certified is on its way off the page!

I'm wondering if a second row could be added of "favorites", with an option for users to "favorite" some badges that they really like.  These may be things like the certifications which speak to a user's qualifications/experience, or something like the "Stars Champion" badge, which only one user has.  I think allowing a curated list like this could add a lot of value to user profiles, and add a sense of customization/personalization, increasing engagement.

I really like the new Community design and I think that splitting discussion by product is a fantastic way to direct users.

I would like one more page, that functions similarly to the designer/server/promote pages, which have links to discussion, knowledge base, and ideas.

Ideally, this page would have a link/button that would bring you to each of the ideas pages for the various products, so eg:

User clicks a "Idea Center" link.

Here there are 5 links:
Community Ideas
Connect Ideas

Designer Ideas

Server Ideas

Promote Ideas

Each of these links is basically identical to the ones that already exist today (maybe the icon changes to be a lightbulb and the image for that particular product?)

That way it is easy to navigate specifically to suggestions, which I think will be helpful for ease of access.

So we have specific divisions on the community;

  • Designer

  • Server

  • Connect

  • Promote
Picture1.png

but nothing for Datasets!

Actually Connect and Promote are "additional capabilities" to Server as you can see at the pricing pages; https://www.alteryx.com/products/platform-details/pricing.

So are the datasets so I would suggest a Dataset division on the left hand side...

  • This will enable us to ask specific questions about the ever evolving and quarterly updated datasets...
  • Plus we will be (at least me) able to provide new ideas and sources of datasets...

I see I can go month by month but takes quite a bit of time. The weekly challenge index is very helpful and useful :)

[Old Dog] + [New Tricks]

Here's a gripe.  I'm used to typing "help.alteryx.com" (or a shortened version of it) into my address bar when helping others in the community.  Now you get redirected to a landing page for 3 products and have to choose which Alteryx product you are asking for help with.  I've thought of a few alternatives to this including help.alteryx.com/designer which would bring you to the most recent version of the help page.

I try to include hyperlinks to help articles when practical.  Hopefully it gives the hope that help can be found in the help documentation (LMGTFY).  To that end, perhaps a button (to help) on community would be useful?

Cheers,

Mark
