Submission GuidelinesHello,
After used the new "Image Recognition Tool" a few days, I think you could improve it :
> by adding the dimensional constraints in front of each of the pre-trained models,
> by adding a true tool to divide the training data correctly (in order to have an equivalent number of images for each of the labels)
> at least, allow the tool to use black & white images (I wanted to test it on the MNIST, but the tool tells me that it necessarily needs RGB images) ?
Question : do you in the future allow the user to choose between CPU or GPU usage ?
In any case, thank you again for this new tool, it is certainly perfectible, but very simple to use, and I sincerely think that it will allow a greater number of people to understand the many use cases made possible thanks to image recognition.
Thank you again

Idea: Prompt the user to find a missing macro instead of the current UX of a question mark icon.
Issue: When a macro referenced in a workflow is missing, then there is no way to a) know what the name of the macro was (assuming you were lazy like me and didn't document with a comment) and b) find the macro so you can get back to business.
When this happens to me know, I have to go to the XML view and search for macros and then cycle through them until I find the one that's missing. Then I have to either copy the macro back into that location or manually edit the workflow XML. Not cool man.
Solution: When a macro is missing, the image below at the right should be shown. In the properties window, a file browse tool should allow the user to find the macro.
Currently Alteryx does not support writing to SharePoint document libraries.
However there are success sometimes but not at other times.
Please see attachment where we ran into an issue.
See this link for additional information.
We need official support for reading and writing to SharePoint document libraries.
It's an important Output target, and will becoming more so, as Alteryx enhances its reporting capabilities.
Please add support for Databricks' Unity Catalog
Currently, when selecting a Databricks-connection in the “Connect In-DB”-tool, and opening the “Query Builder”, only tables in the catalog named “hive_metastore” are listed. That is, Alteryx submits the following SQL query to Databricks:
Listing tables 'catalog : hive\_metastore, schemaPattern : %, tableTypes : null, tableName : %'
However, with Unity Catalog in Databricks the namespace is three-tier and there may be multiple catalogs (and not just the "hive_metastore" catalog), see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/databricks/lakehouse/data-objects#--what-is-a-catalog
I reached out to Alteryx support, which replied that you currently have a feature request for implementing this change (ID TDCB-4056) and they furthermore suggested that I post here.
Thanks in advance.
When I use the Comment Tool its difficult to select the tools inside it, but when I use the Container Tool the Container Text doesn't support Font Sizes, and doesn't support multiple lines of text so I end up moving the Comment into the Container, but still have problems selecting a group of tools.
So a combined Comment and Container Tools would be wonderful!
Bonus: If the Comment Tool could support Multiple Font Sizes.
Ever tried to copy a field rename from one select tool to another, or from one summarize tool from another.
Have you noticed that it doesn't work?
I think it should. 🙂
i.e., if you click on the rename box ("Total") and enter ctrl-c, when you enter ctrl-v in the other tool, it pastes this:
Field2 Sum Total
not just the name "Total"
Instead of just the renamed field "Category", the select tool pastes this:
True Field1 String 1 Category
If you forget to put a name on a new column in the formula tool - the error message is
The field "" is not contained in the record. (Expression #1)
Please could you replace this with a user-friendly message which is self descriptive like:
"Please provide a name for the new column created in expression 1"?
We need color coding in the SQL Editor Window for input tools. We are always having to pull our code out of there and copy it into a Teradata window so it is easier to ready/trouble shoot. This would save us some time and some hassle and would improve the Alteryx user experience. ( I think you've used a couple of my ideas already. This one is a good one too. )
Would love to see an option to disable a specific Output tool (rather than the global "Disable All Tools that Write Output" option). I'm envisioning the inverse of the Email tool, where there is a checkbox to enable Email... rather, the Output tool could have a check box that would disable that output (and ONLY that output), similar/consistent with the "Disable All Tools" function. A "Disable This Output" check box. The benefits would be a quick way to make sure not to overwrite something in one output (but still getting all the good content in all the other outputs) rather than having to go through the multiple clicks of adding to a container and then disabling the container. Could have benefits for connecting with Action tools/interface toggles as well. It would likely need to contain the same/similar formatting in Designer to indicate it has been disabled, though maybe a slightly different color so you could tell it was disabled differently?
(On a similar vein, would love to take this opportunity to bring up my favorite idea-that-has-not-been-implemented-yet-that-would-love-your-vote-and-attention, implementing a Warning that outputs are disabled when posting to Gallery...)
Cheers!

When writing a good amount of code, it is easy to get lost in a sea of parentheses. Just when you think you're all done, you get an error that can force you to scour through your code to find the missing, extra, or misplaced parenthesis.
A common feature today is to highlight a parenthesis when its partner is clicked on. This instantly lets you know if you have the wrong number of them and where.
I didn't think this was that important early on in Alteryx, at least for me. Formulas were meant to be short and easily readable at a glance. Now as I dig deeper, there's R, Python, SQL and other text-heavy inputs.
I don't need a full-fledged text editor in Alteryx, but I would love some quality of life features like parentheses matching.
Right now we can create Tableau extract files (.tde), but cannot read them into Alteryx -- this limits the partnership of these two companies.
Please add the functionality to import .tde files,
Best,
Jeremy
This year, Microsoft updated improve their API (GraphAPI) to access Office365 enviroment.
Alteryx have launched on Microsoft District in Public Gallery the Dataverse , Onedrive & Sharepoint Connectors.
Alteryx must develop as soon as possible an connector/email with same authenticator options as connectors Above and improve the emails settings.
It´s important to release and documentation to show wich permissions on Azure it's necssary to send the emails.

Currently, when a new version of Alteryx Designer is released, you get a banner at the top of your Designer to upgrade. You can manually select to disable this for up to 30 days.
However, this is really causing issues with Server compatibility. Users get notified to upgrade, thinking it's from the Server owners and upgrade then is no longer compatible with Server. Alternatively, it causes differences between users, etc.
It would be ideal that it would be disabled in general but also controlled when software is pushed to machines through IT policies.
It would be nice if we can arrange some tools on the canvas neatly by one click and having them distributed evenly (horizontally/vertically).
See this picture which worth thousand words.
The crosstab tool replaces any non-alphanumeric characters with underscores in column names. It would be helpful to keep the original values as column names (or to have the option to toggle whether or not special characters are replaced with underscores).
This is often an issue for reporting and for dynamically-populated app inputs (e.g. drop-down), where we need to retain the special characters.
For example, say I have the following dataset:
Currently, the crosstab tool produces this:
I would like this:
There are currently (somewhat cumbersome) workarounds such as adding an extra row with the original names, and then using Dynamic Rename to rename the columns, but it would be great to be able to use the data straight out of the crosstab!
We all love seeing this. And, it's fairly easy to fix, just go find the macro and insert a new copy. But, then you have to remember the configuration and hope that it was simple.
With the tool that's there, the XML still contains the configuration, all that's missing is the tool path. It would be great to be able to right click and repair the path from the context of the missing macro.
In Japan, the prople usually use the date format "yyyy/mm/dd". But there is no preset in Date tool. So I usually use custom setting, but it is the waste of time.
So please add yyyy/mm/dd format to the preset in Date tool configuration for Japanese people.
At the moment, at least for Postgres and ODBC connections, the DCM only supports a names DSN that must be installed on each machine running Designer or Server. However, the ODBC admin function is admin only within my company, which makes DCM more trouble than it is worth to use.
Connection strings work well in the workflows, have been implemented on the gallery before, and do not require access to the ODBC admin to implement. Could DCM please be improved to support native connection strings?
This request is super simple! I love how Alteryx displays the row count and size of the data passing through each tool at run time. Can you set the default formatting for the row count indicators to be #,###? Without the commas, it's hard to easily check the row count once you get more than 6-9 digits.
In the example below, it would be so much more readable if it displayed as 75,640,320.
Hi,
I'm not finding it anywhere as a current option, but my company uses branded PowerPoint slides using our logo, these slides are in 16.:9 (widescreen) for slide size, but Alteryx won't output to that size even if I choose custom for page size & have Widescreen selected as an option. Could there be an Advanced Options button added that would allow users more output choices, like choosing the 16:9 ratio size output? Without it, I'm having to output the largest map I can create (13 x 9.75 in Report Map tool) and then stretch/shrink to get it to fit the 16:9 slide...for every single map/slide (currently making 40 maps at once).
Is there a work around to accomplish my goal currently? And if not, could the option be added to the Render tool? Thank you!
The SQL Editor window could have a better presentation of the SQL code; two issues observed
I understand that going between the Visual Query Builder and the SQL Editor is bound to have some issues; nonetheless the "idea" is to allow a user friendly display in the SQL Editor window:
My "implementation ideas" are based on a couple minutes with google, so hopefully this is a very feasible request; my user base is very likely to spend more time in the SQL editor than not, so this would be a valuable UX addition. Thanks!
