DCM should support connection strings

At the moment, at least for Postgres and ODBC connections, the DCM only supports a names DSN that must be installed on each machine running Designer or Server. However, the ODBC admin function is admin only within my company, which makes DCM more trouble than it is worth to use.

 

Connection strings work well in the workflows, have been implemented on the gallery before, and do not require access to the ODBC admin to implement. Could DCM please be improved to support native connection strings?

To expand on this the UI should support capture or data fields to build the string, e.g. with Snowflake

In what release is it possible to create a DSN-less DCM connection in Designer and sync it to the server?  We are currently on 2024.1 at my company. 

 

I don't see it in the release notes for Designer 2024.2 https://help.alteryx.com/release-notes/en/release-notes/designer-release-notes/designer-2024-2-relea...  

DCM Connections are mentioned in the Server 2024.2 release notes, but it seems from the 'Add a Data Connection' documentation that DSN-less connections can only be created on the Server by an admin and not in Designer and then synced to the Server.  Is this correct?
