Submission GuidelinesHello,
After used the new "Image Recognition Tool" a few days, I think you could improve it :
> by adding the dimensional constraints in front of each of the pre-trained models,
> by adding a true tool to divide the training data correctly (in order to have an equivalent number of images for each of the labels)
> at least, allow the tool to use black & white images (I wanted to test it on the MNIST, but the tool tells me that it necessarily needs RGB images) ?
Question : do you in the future allow the user to choose between CPU or GPU usage ?
In any case, thank you again for this new tool, it is certainly perfectible, but very simple to use, and I sincerely think that it will allow a greater number of people to understand the many use cases made possible thanks to image recognition.
Thank you again

Thank you again.

As an admin - we currently need to download a large number of different binaries for every release; then package them for internal deployment; then send them out.
This creates unnecessary work for our admin teams, our packaging teams, our deployment teams etc.
This problem is becoming more acute now that Alteryx is shipping add-on tools via the public gallery - so our standard desktop designer can now require 10 or more separately packaged installs.
Can we please change the download experience to allow enterprise admins to:
- Select the components that they want in a standard download
- This would allow for a menu selection across all the starter kits (e.g. Tableau; microsoft; qlik); the standard designer; the predictive
- it would also allow for a menu selection across public gallery assets so that we can include things like the model comparison tool and other new predictive capabilities
- the addins for Microsoft R Server
- database drivers
- Connect data loaders
- Server components
- Given this set a name (like "Standard designer install") since in a large enterprise we will have several different configurations (some for super-users; some for standard users). In our world we'd have "Standard Designer"; "Admin"; "Connect Controller"; "SuperUser" as our starting list.
- Then download one installer which is the aggregated set of these in one place
- ... and finally allow the Admin to be notified when any component in the install set changes so that they can download the new version.
I am using a Dynamic Input within a Batch Macro to allow the user to read (dump) data from multiple Oracle tables with varying schemas. If a table read has 0 rows output, then an error message like the following is displayed at the end of the job execution:
Because it is always possible to return 0 rows from the read, I'd like to mute the error message. If this message is present, I don't want to STOP the macro/application. I do however want to stop the application if an ERROR Message that I care about is encountered (e.g. Output file is not defined).
Cheers,
Mark
These tools seem to be volatile, as in if you click on them before you run the workflow they lose their configuration. This is infuriating. Can we change this to be like every other tool where you can copy, paste or click into it at any time and it remembers its config.

Hi there,
Elastic is used quite widely as a search database due to the high velocity and scale capability.
Could you please consider adding this as a data-source for Alteryx? Elastic is fully REST API integrated, so this should not be too tough.
Thank you

I've got six workflows up on my screen now and must reboot. I would like the option to save the workspace and reopen all flows at once.
Cheers,
Mark
I think it would be extremely beneficial to have the customization option to rearrange tools within their panels in the tool palette.
This would allow the user to group frequently used tools in their desired order, which would make navigation of these tools easier.
As an example, having the ability to place Data Input as the first tool in the palette would make a lot of sense to me, as its usually where I start building a new workflow.
Hello all,
MonetDB is a very light, fast, open-source database available here :
https://www.monetdb.org/
Really enjoy it, works pretty well with Tableau and it's a good introduction to column-store concepts and analytics with SQL.
It has also gained a lot of popularity these last years :

Sadly, Alteryx does not support it yet.
Best regards
it would particularly interesting to develop a WMS support in Alteryx.
To include other Maps like bing, google, HERE instead of CloudMade to display geo informations.

In Dec I had an issue where I could not uninstall or upgrade Alteryx. As part of troubleshooting and the eventual solution I had to manually delete any registry key related to Alteryx. As these were hundreds of entries this took a long time. It would be handy if Alteryx could provide a tool that cleaned the registry of all Alteryx related entries. Related: "Case 00088264: Unable to uninstall Alteryx"
Would be nice to have the regex tool allow you to drop original input field and report and error if any records fail to parse.
A simple quality of life improvement that I would love, is the ability to rename the output of the transpose tool in its configuration, rather than only having 'Name' and 'Value'
Would just let me drop the renaming of these fields afterwards :)
...and now for probably the most trivial request in a long time, but also one of the most annoying things (for me anyway)..........
When viewing a browse window, it's so darn awesome to be able to sort and search. However, it would be even awesomeer (yes, I just made up a word) if when you actually conducted a sort or search, you could make your selection (for sorts) or type in your criteria (for searches) and simply press the "Enter" button on the keyboard and have it do the same thing that selecting "Apply" with the mouse does. This is common Windows functionality and I think should be easy to implement.
Hello all,
I really love the DCM feature present in the last two releases. However, I have noticed the Generic ODBC Connection is missing :
Classic Connection Manager :
Data Connection Manager :

When building out Alteryx workflows there may be a need to read in different ranges within the same Excel spreadsheet. For example bringing in a table from Sheet1, but also isolating a table name in a particular cell (in my example cell C8).
When turning this into an analytic app, with a file browse is to add an action tool with the default value of "Update Input Data Tool".
However when specifying this option within the analytic app interface, you are only allowed to chose one option of the following:
i) Select a sheet
ii) Select a sheet and specify a range
iii) a named range or
iv) a list of sheet names.
The problem is in the example above I need a sheet and a range, but I want to avoid adding two file browse interface tools as it shouldn't be needed. If the user selects (i) then it loses the reference to cell C8, but I would imagine a lot of users as they get started with apps don't realise this is what will happen.
There is however a way to solve this currently and it requires overwriting the default behaviour and configuring the second action tool (the one that updates the file for C8), to update value with a formula, where you assume the user would select sheet name and then use this formula:
replace([#1],"$`","$C8:C8`")
However I would argue that this has a lot of technical debt, plus if the user needs to modify where the header is, for example to D8 they need to change the input file and the action tool so it works as a workflow and an analytic app.
Solution
Like how the configuration options for the input file, such as which row to input data from or whether first row contains data is maintained, modify the behaviour of the default option in the action tool to maintain references to ranges.
A "Filter" that would work like a "Formula" - where you can add multiple criteria in one space, and for each criteria, you would get an output anchor. I use Alteryx to manage master data from several factories - each needing to have separate workstreams. Stacking Filter criteria functions, but it would be much cleaner to have it managed within a single tool.
When packaging a workflow, or uploading to a Server environment the ability to manage the assets which need to be included is critical, particularly in more complex solutions which may have numerous dependencies.
The asset management display should be modified to present two column with the first showing just the file name and extension of the asset, and the second column can then show the full path of the asset. This easy change would would prevent the need for scrolling left and right to see the file name when longer paths are utilized.
An alternative approach would be to allow the window to be resizable so the user could see everything without the need to scroll.
The ability to filter/sort the assets by type would also be useful with the following categories: Macros (.yxmc), Data Files (supported file types from file input screen), Other Assets.
