K-Centroids Cluster Analysis: No valid fields were selected

When using the K-Centroids Cluster Analysis tool, you may see the following error message:

Tool #27: Tool #6: No valid fields were selected.
Tool #41: Tool #6: No valid fields were selected.

Environment

• Product - Alteryx Designer Predictive Tools

Cause

The most common cause for this error message is:

1. One of the fields selected has no statistical variance (all values are the same)
   • If this is the case, you will often see another error message stating:"One or more of the provided data columns has a single data value."

Solution

1. Attach a Field Summary tool (Data Investigation) to the data you are sending into the K-Centroids Cluster Analysis tool
2. Investigate the results to find any fields no variance
