Submission GuidelinesHi Alteryx team,
It would be great if it was possible to install/upgrade and configure Alteryx Connect using scripts. This would enable us to deploy Alteryx Connect using script deployment tools such as Urbancode Deploy. This functionality was recently requested by one of our customers, who has most of their application installations/upgrades automated this way.
Thank you very much for considering this idea.
Kind regards,
Jan
Certified objects should appear in the top of any search.
Today it has no effect on the search if a object is certified. Certified objects should be boosted in the search.
In the administration console, Connect configuration, search boost it should be possible to ad weight to certified objects
Hi Alteryx,
currently, when running loaders from the Administration Console - Connections pane, there is no information about the status of the load. Would it be possible to include information such as success/fail message, run length, completion time or next scheduled run time?
This would much simplify monitoring of the scheduled loads and managing the schedule.
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Jan
Hello Alteryx Team,
We would like to be scheduling the loaders from the administration console, Connections tab. However, when scheduling from there, the loaders are being sent to the Alteryx Gallery under low priority and therefore can easily end up in a queue. As we are scheduling a number of loaders that run for a significant amount of time, it is essential to have the schedules set on precise times and have a certainty that they will not end up in a queue. However, the low priority in the Gallery prevents us from doing that.
It would be great if there was a priority switch directly in the Connect's Connections section, where it would be possible to select how prioritized should the loaders be in the Alteryx Gallery. Also a possibility to select a specific worker would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for considering this idea.

Jan Laznicka
Hi Alteryx team,
Would it be possible to implement an overview table with a complete history of metadata loads? I can imagine there could be a table in the administration console (in Jobs) where you could see the history and number of runs for each source system so that it can be referred to at any time when you need to know the frequency and past runs?
Thank you
Michal
Connect has the ability to visually see 1 level of dependancy (in the Nexus view).
For an asset owner - it is very important to be able to see ALL upstream / downstream dependancies to be able to understand impact. Key here is answering the question "who will be impacted if I change XX"
This should include asset; owner; and depth - preferrably in a tree format.
Hi Alteryx,
Would it be possible to allow some basic customization of the login page? In our use case, we have the access into Connect restricted for the users and when they navigate to the login page and find out they don’t have access, we want to inform them they need to contact some internal Connect support to grant them access. So generally, it may only be like a one line with a custom text.
Thank you.

Hi Alteryx team,
apart from the current known issue of format of email notifications (which in some cases shows a code instead of a proper notification), can you work further to improve the visual of the email notifications?
Currently, the notifications do not contain any indication (information) that it is coming from Alteryx Connect so very frequently, it is even captured by the spam filters or users have no idea what they are receiving.
The expectation would be to include perhaps the Alteryx Connect logo, perhaps name of the instance or some other details, possibly even customizable by the administrator (to some extent only, obviously).
Thank you
Michal
In a large environment- especially an analytical environment - copies of data will often appear in multiple places. an example of this is where a copy of a shared dimension or a shared piece of reference data is copied in multiple different data marts.
In order to manage this - we need to be able to mark these as copies of each other so that we can point folk to the golden-source; and so that we don't need to document this asset multiple different times.
Example:
- Client List appears in the data lake; on the Sales data mart; on the Finance data mart; etc
- We would want to group all 3 of these together; and mark the Data Lake version as the master; and all the others as copies.
User experience:
NOTE: There are circumstances where a copy may be deliberately filtered or incomplete (for example - regional subsets of clients) - in this case the relationship needs to be "Partial Copy" not "Copy"
Hi Alteryx,
Currently, when a user edits an asset, all the contributors (those who have made the changes to this asset in the past hence listed as contributors of that asset) are notified by email. As a result, these contributors have their mailboxes often flooded with notifications.
In our use case, we rather want to apply pull principle (users can subscribe if they want to be notified) instead of push principle (users are notified on every single change).
Would it be possible to implement a maybe a toggle for turning off the notifications for contributors? Thus, only owners and users who subscribed would be notified when an asset is changed.
Thank you.

Hi Alteryx,
Would it be possible to implement a toggle for switching between business and technical names of metadata objects? We have both business people as well as technical IT people using Connect. While technical people are interested to see the original names of tables, views, schemas etc. from the sources, the business would like to see some names they can more relate too.
We are using the alternate names, which works well, however we are missing a toggle, in which each user can define what he wants to see.
Thank you
Michal
Hi Alteryx,
Is there a way to make asset icons customizable? I am conscious of an option to upload an icon through the attachment, but this only applies to a specific page/asset.
What I have in mind is to customize the icon for individual asset types. For example, reports (workbooks) and report worksheets have the same icon, which is in our case for many users confusing. It would be great if we could customize the icons for example in the Asset Configuration tab of the Administration Console.
Thank you.

Connect offers functionality for users to chat about data & analytical assets.
However - in order to meet regulatory obligations in a regulated Financial Services company - this communication needs to be surveiled by compliance.
Please could you provide an API for this data to be monitored by compliance teams in near-real-time?

Hi Alteryx,
Currently, it is only possible to map first name, last name and email via SAML. Would it be possible to enable mapping of aliases? The idea is, that we cannot map first name and last name with the Full Name field because they are not unique. At the moment, we are pushing email into both Full Name and Email fields, because emails are unique for us. In addition to this, it would be convenient if the Alias(es) field could be mapped via SAML as well. In this way, not only emails but also real names would be automatically present in Connect.
Thank you.

In order to ensure that assets are managed through the process from discovery through correct tagging - a configurable workflow is required to ensure that this process can be managed.
Our Data Catalogue in Connect has about 2 millions items (tables, views, columns).
I see next issues:
All queries in this script containing column or table name as a parameter (e.g. src.TABLE_NAME='${query_table_name}' AND src.COLUMN_NAME='${query_column_name}') will be executed as many times as number of columns in Data Catalogue (millions times). It will work very slow because it executes a lot of queries.
Can you optimize somehow this process?
Hi,
Would it be possible to implement an option to enable a banner with custom notification for users? This would be meant to inform users about scheduled maintenance windows, that they can experience slow performance (e.g. during metadata loading) or to inform them about any important information.
Thanks
Michal
The asset sniffers are currently rudimentary - they are Alteryx Analytical Apps which need to be created by the admin team and then scheduling these.
This could be better controlled by a simple UI in the Connect Admin portal rather than requiring users to create their own jobs in Alteryx to do the sniffing.
According to the current product functions,
permission management after data search by Connect is not possible.
We request the following functions.
-Added "Approve / Reject" function when Request Access.
-Added a function to set a fixed email address with Cc when Request Access.
Unavailability of Connect during H2 DB backup (using backup button in administration console as described in documentation - https://help.alteryx.com/connect/current/Administration/DBBackup.htm?tocpath=Administer%7C_____8) while even View is not possible, no matter the capacity of Java Virtual Maschine, can be limiting while large number of data is stored (so backup and following rerun takes a lot of time).
We use Connect widely among hundreds of users. During a lot of concurrent sessions Connect begin to work slow and unstable.
It is nice to have high workload detection - to warn users about potential problems/instability/slow response (either by email or via some banner at the Home page).
