Hello Alteryx Team,
Would you consider creating a metadata loader for SharePoint? A lot of companies that we are working with have a lot of data stored in SharePoint and they would like to catalog their metadata.
I am aware that it is possible to use the Files Loader when the SharePoint drive is mapped as a mapped drive in Windows Explorer, but the mapping and subsequent scheduling is very problematic, also because of security policies in large enterprises.
Having a SharePoint dedicated loader would be a great benefit.
Thank you very much for considering this idea.
currently, when running loaders from the Administration Console - Connections pane, there is no information about the status of the load. Would it be possible to include information such as success/fail message, run length, completion time or next scheduled run time?
This would much simplify monitoring of the scheduled loads and managing the schedule.
Thank you very much.
we have noticed that when drilling up/down in the "all mode" in Nexus, it is not possible to see all subsequent relations for assets related to the object, where Nexus was opened.
For example, when opening the Nexus view on a business term:
We are unable to drill into the outgoing relationships for the highlighted Tableau dashboard, the only relation we see is its parent.
Would it be possible to show all relations when drilling up/down in the Nexus view?
Thank you very much.
Would it be possible to implement a toggle for switching between business and technical names of metadata objects? We have both business people as well as technical IT people using Connect. While technical people are interested to see the original names of tables, views, schemas etc. from the sources, the business would like to see some names they can more relate too.
We are using the alternate names, which works well, however we are missing a toggle, in which each user can define what he wants to see.
Are you considering building a standard SAP BW loader for Alteryx Connect. I am concious there are some custom solutions available on the market (like DVW loader), but that is not standard and does not allow data lineage with other systems?
We can tag all objects but when we want to find all the objects with a specific tag that is not possible.
In the advanced search it should be possible to search for all objects. with a specific tag.
The tag should be a part to the search boost.
Example. I have 10 tables that I tag "Finance". When users search for finance the tables should appear even though finance is not a part of the table name, column names or description
Would be good to create an Alteryx Connect plugin for Tableau so that you can access Connect from Tableau? Would improve user experience if the user can access the information catalog without leaving their BI tool. So for example, have an Alteryx Connect sidebar in Tableau to allow you to search for a table or file then click and add as a data source and immediately start data discovery/analysis.
Change localization from the system level to the user level. This allows select interface language individually for each user.
Some of our potential customers - multi-cultural companies would like to have this flexibility.
This would be a great improvement for Connect.
We spend hours on structuring the content within Alteryx Connect so that it serve all users.
We group schemas and databases into themes like "Sales", "Finance", "HR" and so on.
This makes it very easy for users to find what data we have available.
The same we do for workflows, macros and other content.
The problem is that our metadata loaders run every day to make sure our data is up-to-date.
Each run resets custom grouping. Making organizing content totally pointless.
Please vote for this idea
We are new to Alteryx and we could see that the Supported Data Sources from IBM are of below :
How about adding IBM Sterling to this?
We want Alteryx to support connection with IBM Sterling OMS which will help the Business requirements
Can anyone post some suggestions on this? How we can connect to Sterling?
Dean has inspired me to want Voice Activated Alteryx Connect so while I'm having my coffee in the morning I can have Alterexa explain the new data sources that were curated yesterday! Please make this happen!
Our client is considering introducing Alteryx Connect.
They are considering sharing metadata to thousands of users.
So it is not realistic for administrators to create accounts one by one.
Therefore, we want the function to import user lists.
Initially we considered connection with AD,
However, we could not be used because users and server of Alteryx Connect belong to different domains.
Therefore, we want the ability to import user lists.
Or, we want an extension to import account information in AD into Alteryx Connect.
