Submission GuidelinesHello,
After used the new "Image Recognition Tool" a few days, I think you could improve it :
> by adding the dimensional constraints in front of each of the pre-trained models,
> by adding a true tool to divide the training data correctly (in order to have an equivalent number of images for each of the labels)
> at least, allow the tool to use black & white images (I wanted to test it on the MNIST, but the tool tells me that it necessarily needs RGB images) ?
Question : do you in the future allow the user to choose between CPU or GPU usage ?
In any case, thank you again for this new tool, it is certainly perfectible, but very simple to use, and I sincerely think that it will allow a greater number of people to understand the many use cases made possible thanks to image recognition.
Thank you again

Thank you again.

When moving a tool container, all of the tools within it become mis-aligned with the canvas grid. Moving any single tool immediately re-aligns it to the grid, which puts it out of alignment with the rest of the tools in the container.
Example: Put 3 tools in a row in a tool container, all aligned horizontally. Next, move the container. Now, move the middle tool, then try to place it back in alignment with the other two. You won't be able to, because they are out of alignment with the canvas grid.
Please fix this.
Feature: If an instance of Alteryx is already running then on double clicking a *.yxmd file in Windows Explorer it should open in a New Tab of existing instance instead of launching another instance of Alteryx.
Issue: Each new instance of Alteryx puts load on the system memory due to an additional AlteryxGui.exe process.
Workaround: Currently we can drag & drop the *.yxmd file from Windows Explorer onto the running Alteryx instance to open in a new tab of the current instance but the same behaviour on double clicking the *.yxmd would be highly appreciated.
Hi,
I have a suggestion for selecting multiple tools. You currently have it to where the user can hold down Ctrl and select multiple tools one at a time. Could you take it the next step and allow the user to hold Ctrl and then click and drag over multiple tools, then go to another area while still holding Ctrl and click and drag to select multiple tools again.
For example, I would first click and drag over these tools:
Then hold down Ctrl and click and drag over these tools (I’m trying to select the 5 tools without grabbing the Filter tool and it’s 2 Browses):
In version 10.5 if the taskbar is auto-hidden and alteryx is the active window - you cannot access the taskbar by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen.
You have to use the windows key or switch to another application window
I am always coping the open workflow path for various reasons - would love a COPY button right here to copy to clipboard.
Please?
Under options/restore defaults, it would be nice if the canvass could be reset (I sometimes lose windows), but the favorites be left intact.
Thanks!
Susan
Would love to have a 'common used' tab, rather than a favourties box (as that lags what I am currenty using).
Would be nice to have it look at my usage and create sort by frequency of use table. Could also be done with all users as well (some kind of opt-in telematary data?).
Ever since upgrade to version 10, when you highlight rows in a browse tool, it is almost impossible to see what is highlighted. Previously, I believe it was a shade of green which provided great contrast against the white background of the cells so you could easily see what you were highlighting. With version 10, it was moved to a very very light blue which almost looks white, so it is near impossible to tell which rows you're highlighting. I looked in the settings and do not see any way to change this.
Am myself and my colleagues alone in finding this very straining on the eyes? Would like to either be able to select what color you want in the settings, or move back to something easier to see.
Thanks.
I think it would be extremely beneficial to have the customization option to rearrange tools within their panels in the tool palette.
This would allow the user to group frequently used tools in their desired order, which would make navigation of these tools easier.
As an example, having the ability to place Data Input as the first tool in the palette would make a lot of sense to me, as its usually where I start building a new workflow.
Many times; ideas for new ways to use Alteryx come to me while I'm not at work.
Most of the time that happens, I can use RDP via VPN to get to my work desktop.
But sometimes it isn't easy to do that. Like when I'm driving, outside for a run, in the shower.. you get the idea.
My point is that there should be a mobile app for Designer (iPads and Android tablets). The mobile app wouldn't necessarily need to be connected to the actual sources live (maybe require a template used for input for ODBC; but allow connections to HTTP/FTP/local sources).
The user would design the workflow, and then have the option to email the schema to themselves (or others) so that once back at work, one could pick up where they left off.
Although I would prefer to use it on an iPad, it could technically be used on an iPhone as well.
For an example of how that could look, see the iOS app "Workflow". That, in combination with the now defunct "Schemes" was a great way to do visual programming similar to what we do in Alteryx.
My client today asked if Alteryx could be configured to build/run horizontally from right to left. Thought I'd post the idea.
Hi - I miss the functionality in 9.5 of being able to set a default tool in a tab and then drag in tools from the tab. This seems to be gone in 10. Is there any possibility of it coming back?
Many thanks - Nathalie
Is there a technical reason why you can't navigate the GUI while the module is running? There can't be because it works using Overview. Can you enable the scroll bars?
I really like the ability in 10.0 to turn on and off certain tool categories and specific tools within a category to keep your toolbar clean.
What would really take it to the next level is allowing users to manage them like bookmarks in a broswer - let me create new custom groups and add anything to them, or move tools among groups.
The favorites method lays the foundation for this, but is limited in that everthing is on one group. Using the method I suggest, users could basically have groups of tools tailored to specific analytic tasks.
Make it easier to use Delete and connect around
ex: Shift + Delete
You can select all fields at once, but it'd be nice to select a chunk of fields using CTL+Shift+Click
Scenario: 6 input tools, and want to add, say, a select tool after each one.
Would be nice to select all 6, and add the tool after all of them at once.
It would be nice to have the annotations that a user gives a tool with a different background color on the canvas than those tools where the annotation is being automatically populated. Example would be the user gives a tool a specific name that shows up in blue but the formula tools that display the formula preview under the tool show up in yellow.
Unless I'm missing the basics, I'm unable to scroll and pan during module runs. I can zoom in and out, but not scroll or pan.
On large modules, I would love to be able to scroll to different areas to see progress/status of different key points in the process.
Guidance from the experts would be much appreciated! Thanks!
I have often thought it would be nice to have a 'predicted run time' for a module calculated.
An adequate prediction might be the complete run time last time the module ran. Then, in combination with a counter of how long a module has been running so far, we’d be well armed to estimate whether to go get a cup of coffee or not.
