Submission GuidelinesHello,
After used the new "Image Recognition Tool" a few days, I think you could improve it :
> by adding the dimensional constraints in front of each of the pre-trained models,
> by adding a true tool to divide the training data correctly (in order to have an equivalent number of images for each of the labels)
> at least, allow the tool to use black & white images (I wanted to test it on the MNIST, but the tool tells me that it necessarily needs RGB images) ?
Question : do you in the future allow the user to choose between CPU or GPU usage ?
In any case, thank you again for this new tool, it is certainly perfectible, but very simple to use, and I sincerely think that it will allow a greater number of people to understand the many use cases made possible thanks to image recognition.
Thank you again

Thank you again.

I really like the ability in 10.0 to turn on and off certain tool categories and specific tools within a category to keep your toolbar clean.
What would really take it to the next level is allowing users to manage them like bookmarks in a broswer - let me create new custom groups and add anything to them, or move tools among groups.
The favorites method lays the foundation for this, but is limited in that everthing is on one group. Using the method I suggest, users could basically have groups of tools tailored to specific analytic tasks.
I'd like to see Alteryx allow a second install of your license on a second, personal machine. Tableau allows this and IMO is why there is such a robust online / blog community around that product.
For those of us that work at mid-size to large organizations, there are often strict rules governing internal data and use of cloud-based data sources. If I discover some new trick I'd like the share with my fellow Alteryx analysts outside of my company, I have no clear way to do that the same way I can with Tableau where I can do it at home not using my company's data.
Being able to learn new features and test things out on commonly available public data (ever notice that Superstore data set everyone who gets Tableau has?) would accelerate what we're able to do with the community site here and the larger analytics blogging community.
Configurable hotkeys/keyboard shortcuts would be awesome. For instance, select/deselect highlighted fields or remove prefix are two commands that I use frequenctly but which are buried in menus.
Being able to assign hotkeys to favourite tools would be another time saver. Imagine, ctrl-alt-F and a formula appears under the cursor!
I know this has been suggested before, but it would be great if calculations and transformations could be cached between workflow executions. Perhaps the browse tools could be configured as caches. Any spot that has a browse tool fixes the value of that node between runs provided that there are no upstream tool changes. The cache could be optional (or flushed) to allow for dynamic input data that could change between executions, even if the tool chain didn't.
Posting on behalf of Door To Door Organics:
Canvases can get pretty huge and it's an unintuitive pain to have to scroll and shift+scroll across a large canvas, and an even bigger pain to rely on the sliders at the edges of the canvas. It would be REALLY nice if we could navigate the canvas by dragging the canvas around, much like a touch interface, in the same way that Photoshop's "Hand Tool" works.
As an added plus, the same hotkey that Photoshop uses (the spacebar) should also be usable in Designer, since, I'm pretty sure it's not used for anything else at the moment, as a hotkey. The functionality would look like this: hold down the spacebar (which changes the mouse cursor to a hand tool) and then, while the space bar is still held down, you'd be able to "grab" the canvas and drag it around in your view port in order to traverse it in a much more intuitive way. Bonus points if you could manage to implement some inertial scrolling with this as well. 😃
It would be nice if we could use our gallery with a mobile app. We like to run demographics on site and have to pull up on the ipad.
Also, if instead of typing in an address, we could use the iphones "current location" option.
I have the Show Properties Window selected, but it is not showing up on my screen. At first I thought it was just hidden and that I could just pull it back from being hidden, but I can't find it anywhere.
Thanks!
Add an option to cancel an occurrence currently queued to run without it removing, or completing, the original schedule. Not sure if this is by design or a bug but when you cancel a workflow that's in queue, it sets the scheduled workflow to "Completed" even though you just wanted to stop that occurrence and still keep the workflow schedule “Active”.
Also, adding an option to PAUSE a scheduled module. This is useful when you need to temporarily suspend a workflow from running, but save the hassle of re-configuring the schedule when you want to turn it back on.
Make it easier to use Delete and connect around
ex: Shift + Delete
The tabs for the Workflow-Configuration sheet has the Canvas tab as the first one and defaults back to the Canvas tab after running. I want to be able to have the Workflow tab be the first tab and return to the Workflow tab after running. This can either be the default, or user-selectable ordering of the tabs.
Thanks.
You can select all fields at once, but it'd be nice to select a chunk of fields using CTL+Shift+Click
Scenario: 6 input tools, and want to add, say, a select tool after each one.
Would be nice to select all 6, and add the tool after all of them at once.
Unless I'm missing the basics, I'm unable to scroll and pan during module runs. I can zoom in and out, but not scroll or pan.
On large modules, I would love to be able to scroll to different areas to see progress/status of different key points in the process.
Guidance from the experts would be much appreciated! Thanks!
I'd like a simple option to zoom to the full extent of my module, showing all the tools centered on the canvas.
Thank you.
An additional feature would be to have Alteryx be able to auto-arrange or clean up the canvas tools, specifying a mimum distance between tools and reducing connector overlaps.
I have several modules that need to run in sequence. Can a ksh or some other program be used to string the modules together?
So that if I have Step1.yxmd, Step2.yxmd and Step3.yxmd. 2 is dependent on 1, 3 is dependent on 2. I want to tell it the jobs to run and then to wait until that module completes, then run the next.
run Step1.yxmd
Wait
run Step2.yxmd
Wait
run Step3.yxmd
Wait
Or, if I have a group of modules that can run concurrently but subsequent jobs are dependent on all of them to finish, i can let all those jobs run and have the next step wait for those to complete to begin.
run Step1A.yxmd
run Step1B.yxmd
run Step1C.yxmd
run Step1D.yxmd
Wait
run Step2.yxmd
Wait
run Step3.yxmd
Wait
I know this is very simplistic, but hoping it shows the need. Also, we do have the scheduler set up to use, so if there is a way to set dependencies between modules within Scheduler, that might be helpful. Just haven't found anything.
Thanks!
For example, in the Properties tool (I say that generally because it could be in more than one place in that tool) all the user to enable to visibly see the path of the variable in the flow on the canvas. As shown in the mock-up image below (as crude as it is, I think you get the idea). This would allow you to trace the path forward and backwards in the flow, seeing where the variable entered and when it exited. This could be something you can turn on and off like the grid option.
Instead of being a module setting, showing counts should/could be a user setting.
Wouldn't it be nice to have more training examples available on YouTube?
I'm a long time user of Photoshop and it would be great to get some similar zooming and panning functionality into Alteryx. Such as:
- hold down the "space bar" see a hand and pan across the canvas.
- hold down "CTRL" or "ALT and zoom on the canvas
- use the mouse scroll to zoom on the canvas
While Alteryx is processing it displays information in the module with record/file infromatoin. Once processing is complete this information is gone, except for in the output window. Could you add a key combination or button toggle to redisplay this info from the prior run. It would be very helpful for debugging.
