Display also the description of the DSN

It may be user-friendly to display the DSN description. It's usually stored in the windows registry under "description" :

This should display in the log and when you configure a connexion.

Agree with your thoughts on this - the other thing about DSNs is that they create an enormous headache for admin teams because the DSN needs to be created on every worker node on your server environment.

So the best thing would be to provide full transparent details on the DSN in every place where DSNs or Aliases are used - and if a DSN is used then force this into a DSN-less connection string before publishing to the server.

Sadly this idea doesn't quite yet meet the criteria to be brought out of the Inactive. However, it is well on it's way and we'd be happy to bring it back to the New Idea status once it hits the necessary engagement criteria.
