Alteryx has the ability to connect to data sources using fat clients and ODBC but not JDBC. If the ability to use JDBC could be added to the product it could remove the need to install fat clients.
Here is another way to access any JDBC Driver data in ODBC Apps like Alteryx, Excel, Power BI. You can use JDBC-ODBC Bridge Driver (Provided by ZappySys - 3rd party).
Simply create an ODBC Connection that uses a Java Driver file (*.jar), and then any ODBC App like Alteryx, Power BI, Excel, or Python can consume data from the JDBC driver simply by calling ODBC connection like the one below. Hope this helps.
