Ability to lock Alteryx Databases

Hello,

I work with alteryx databases a lot to store some historical data so I don't have to pull it in the future. It would be great if there was a way when creating the database, where I could lock them for editing and can only be edited by select usernames and passwords.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Chris,
You can try putting the data in a SQL Server (or other database tool) and use credentials in there to ensure you can only have certain people read/write to the database from there. Alternatively, you can place the alteryx database in a file location where only certain users have access to and run a workflow that is encryped with those same people's accounts.

@chris72712,

The yxdb files can be written to a directory that only allows for read privileges to the public.  Another work around is to use the command line tools in windows to limit access.

If you write the file(s) to a cydb, you can provide a license key that provides other forms of access controls.  Just a few interim ideas.

Cheers,

Mark
