Most Common mistakes for beginners

Hi, I am stating to use Alteryx, and I would like to know what are the most common mistakes that people do and what are the recommendations or suggestions to for avoiding them.

Hi @Claraol, I would say the best way to learn Alteryx is to make these mistakes, learn from them, and grow. I made a post not long ago about what I did to get the advanced cert. There are also a few podcasts from Alter Everything that are helpful for people newer to Alteryx. Just keep going, the more you use the product the more you'll learn and the more fluent you'll become! Weekly challenges are a great way to learn.

Knowledge is build on gradient, you need to know first the basic things before jumping into the more complex ones. Get familiar with the basic tools and understand how they work and what might cause an error if not configure correctly. The Alteryx Interactive Lessons are great as they are starting from the basic and most common tools that need to know.

When seeking to get help on the community, before doing it, try to solve the issue first so you will have something to share with the community.

Words sometimes have several meanings, so ensure that you understand the correct definition for the context, just be sure to full understand it, as this will be your first block on the road.

Data type can lead to many errors, so understanding this concept is important.

When getting an error, read it and understand what it referring to.

Do not be afraid or shame to ask for help, sometimes yo will to involve in the creation that you will miss what causing the error, therefore or do a break and then look at it again or just ask for help, people that are not involved with the process are just looking at it as is and can see what might be the issue.

Do not give up, from my experience, in 99% of the cases there is solution and it can be done with Alteryx.

use tonumber() in formula tool. 

or replace to remove the comma before the select tool.
