I've come up with a method for finding the lat/long coordinates of a list of addresses by using the US Census Geolocation Data. Unlike the Google Maps API and the Alteryx Address tools, the US Census API is free to use and publicly available, no credentials needed. Here is the API's documentation: https://geocoding.geo.census.gov/geocoder/Geocoding_Services_API.html As a backup, I've included a copy of ZIP Code Tabulation Areas from the Census Gazetteer files: https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html This means that even if you only have a ZIP code, the app will give back the lat/long of the center of the zip code area, thereby providing a rough estimate of the location. The app file as-is is meant to be used on the server so the entire team can benefit from the tool, but it can easily be converted to a local flow or macro. Hope this helps! -Genesis Vasquez, NHTSA ODI

What great turnout we had for our meeting! There was a lot of great interaction, questions, and showcasing the tools and capabilities. Genesis highlighted the interactivity of the blob tool with excel templates, and then sending everything back into excel macros! As a bonus, she highlighted capabilities with the server and running an analytic app with user inputs. This led to great discussions on control containers and hold until done tools which garnered a lot of conversation.
Join us in October for our next session! Details coming soon, but joining our community group will notify you of it.
Thanks!

For those who attended the February user group session, there was a lot of interest in the workflow I shared that accessed the Federal Register using an API connection and scrapes the content of the Presidential Actions website. I have made modifications to the workflow due to a standardized format change the website did, so I am sharing it here.
I have added the additional capability of saving a local copy of the results to use in further analysis. There is also an optional capability to run the report once you have a file saved with the content that allows to compare the new list of actions to the one most recently saved. If a new one has been posted since the last run, you are able to automatically send an email to notify that a new one is posted.

We have been working hard to bring together members of the public sector to share insights and workarounds that are unique to our adoption of Alteryx. We are excited to open up meetings (if you work in the government sector, you know we like our initialisms and acronyms), formally shared as FAltCom (Federal Alteryx Community) to the larger public sector community. We will have virtual user group meetings on a fairly regular basis, but we do limit access to those meetings with .mil and .gov email addresses. We look forward to connecting everyone and highlighting some of the use cases and spotlights in future meetings!
