Day three of Alteryx Inspire 2015 kicked off with Dean Stoecker's keynote presentation. Our CEO's sessions at Inspire are always focused on our customers and how they are doing amazing things. This year's conference theme focuses upon Analytic Independence, so Dean explored what that means for Alteryx users, their organizations, and the industries they work in. In fact Dean declared May 19th as Analytic Independence Day.
Dean knows our customer use cases better than anyone in the company, so it was great to hear him talk about use cases as varied as those for The National Trust, from the UK, The Home Depot, and Cardinal Health. He set the stage to tell the tale of the incredible users at these organizations by focusing on the concept of the Human Computer Interface and how analysts can be incredibly inventive in how they use Alteryx to solve their business problems.
Dean even discussed one of my favorite scientists, Andre Geim. Geim is not only responsible for inventing Graphene (an incredible substance) and for levitating a frog. Geim represents a lot of the attributes found in our users – people who are self-starters, experimenters, and spend their personal time exploring their passion for analytics.
He then transitioned to key elements of how we think about supporting our users by discussing Licklider someone who has an incredible impact on how people think about the interface between computers and people. Dean's core contention is that the combining the ingenuity and knowledge of a human (an analyst in this case) with an easy-to-use, powerful computer interface (Alteryx) makes that human more powerful. The computer does not replace the human, in enhances the human's ability to do the things that make a difference.
Speaking of human interfaces, Dean also discussed the plans for our updated Alteryx Community, to be launched later this year. Stay tuned for more information on that and on the next release of Alteryx, which will be outlined in George Mathew's keynote tomorrow.
Ultimately Dean's entire keynote was focused on how analytic independence empowers analysts to innovate and add deep value their organizations while accelerating their careers. I can't wait for George's keynote tomorrow to see him continue this theme as he discusses our vision for the Alteryx product.
