We had an exciting first day of Inspire 2015 content in today's Alteryx Technology track, with presentations from data scientists, content managers, product management and client services. Attendees loved learning product 'Tips and Tricks' and best practices directly from the Alteryx team that developed them. Here's a recap of some of today's content.
Data Blending: Best Practices
A streamlined approach to data blending and visualization is more important than ever as more data sources and data types are evaluated to help make critical business decisions. Ben Gomez, Alteryx Senior Product Manager, and Poornima Farrar, Alteryx Product Manager, presented best practice solutions for three main components of data blending: handling data sources, building efficient workflows, and conducting data exploration. The presenters demonstrated how to optimize each of the three components within Alteryx to avoid data analysis errors; saving analysts valuable time in the decision-making process.
Interactive Visualizations for Predictive Analytics
Ramnath Vaidyanathan, Data Scientist at Alteryx, showed off one of the most exciting features in 9.5 – interactive visualizations. While Alteryx has always had a drag-and-drop workflow, in 9.5 we introduced a new feature that allows business analysts to create interactive visualizations for predictive analytics, which facilitates better data-discovery and model-exploration. Ramnath also shared what's in store for interactive visualizations in the next release of Alteryx Designer.
In-Database Blending & Analytics
As the volume of data continues to grow exponentially, it has now become the norm to store all of this information. JC Ravenueau, Alteryx Senior Director of Product Management, and Poornima Farrar, Alteryx Product Manager, walked Inspire attendees through the Alteryx in-database tools: what they are, what context you'll want to use them in, and how they work. With these new in-database tools, Alteryx Designer puts advanced in-database blending and analytic capabilities into the hands of analysts and decision makers, yielding improved performance.
We're looking forward to tomorrow morning, when we will kick off day two of the Alteryx Technology track, hearing from speakers such as Laura Sellers, Vice President of Product Management, who will walk us through the product roadmap, and Dr. Dan Putler, Chief Scientist at Alteryx, who will present on Apache Spark and how to scale analytics without coding.
