Ben Moss (@BenMoss) is an Alteryx ACE who’s shared some really creative uses of data analytics here on the Data Science Blog. His amazing Legolytics project shows how he used Designer to transform a photo of fellow ACE @PhilipMannering into an optimized portrait of Lego blocks, with a shopping list of components ready to buy and build. Another of Ben’s projects, created with @GwilymTIL, used the K-nearest neighbors tools in Alteryx to analyze and build Spotify playlists.

After seeing these projects, I wanted to talk with Ben about how these creative projects came about, and what he sees as the role of creativity in data science and analytics. He graciously agreed to a video interview. He also discusses how creative approaches help him and others learn complex topics in fun ways.

Check out the video below and get inspired to bring creativity to your own data adventures!
