New Alteryx AI Platform for Enterprise Analytics Features | August 2024

In August, we released an exciting set of new features aimed at further enhancing your experience with Alteryx Designer Cloud and App Builder, focusing on new tools, significant tool enhancements, and quality of life improvements across both platforms. Additionally, we've rolled out an important update for Cloud Execution for Desktop, ensuring continued support and seamless integration with the latest version. Alteryx Designer Cloud

 

Last month, we announced the Public Preview of Designer Cloud Standard Mode, bringing a wide array of new tools and capabilities. This month, we have further enhancements to Standard Mode, including performance improvements and some new tools.

 

We’re also announcing a new Consumer Role, broadening the use cases for sharing Designer Cloud workflows.

 

New Tools & Tool Enhancements

 

We’ve added two new tools, now available in Standard Mode: The Dynamic Select tool and the JSON Build tool.

  • Dynamic Select Tool: Allows users to select (or de-select) columns either by column type or by using a formula. Dynamic or unknown columns are also selected by column type or formula at runtime.

  • JSON Build Tool: Allows users to take the table schema of the JSON Parse tool and rebuild it into properly formatted JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).

We’ve also enhanced a few existing tools.

  • The Select tool will now give users the ability to revert all changes that have been added.

  • The performance of the Multi-Column Formula tool has been enhanced, allowing for a snappier product experience.

 

Standard Mode and Cloud Native Mode

 

To make it more clear which version of a tool is being used, we’ve added new icons to denote whether you are in Standard Mode or Cloud Native mode. Standard Mode workflows will now feature a lightning bolt icon, while Cloud Native mode workflows will feature a cloud icon.

 

Improved Data Profiling in Cloud Native Mode

 

When working in Cloud Native Mode, numeric charts will now display quartiles based on the data range in the column.

 

Alteryx App Builder

 

This month, App Builder is adding some new tools, along with some quality-of-life improvements.

 

New Tools

 

We’ve added two new tools to App Builder: The Link tool and the Listbox tool.

  • Link Tool: Allows App Creators to insert hyperlinks to external websites during App Creation

  • Listbox Tool: Allows App Creators to enable multi-select by App users

Quality of Life Improvements

 

We've added a new “Default Value” configuration to several tools, which is at the bottom of the list of available configurations. Default Value is UNchecked by default. This allows App Creators to set default values to the following tools:

  • Checkbox
  • Dropdown
  • Radio
  • Textfield

 

Cloud Execution for Desktop

 

Cloud Execution Version Support Update 

 

Cloud Execution is now available for all Designer versions 23.2 and later. 

 

Please note: Designer 23.1 is no longer supported by Cloud Execution.
