We recently upgraded to 2023.1.1, and our Artisans want to use some of the new tools. But they require AMP. Alteryx said... $$$ Buy More Cores ! But management said "no way".
Is there a way to enable AMP and only let the AMP tools run two cores at a time like the old version tools ?
We are using Alteryx as an ELT/ETL engine for our Tableau server.

Hey @cbeltiii ,
Unfortunately, it is not possible.
I suggest doing a server health check with Alteryx to see how your server is doing in regard to the queue of workflows and total runtime.
Here is something that could help you understand your workflow queue. https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Engine-Works/Tackling-Queued-Jobs-With-Queueing-Theory-Part-2/ba-p/...
Although it is recommended to have 8 cores to enable AMP, I have seen clients having 4 cores with no issues when you don`t have many large workflows, daily end-users and/or RAM and heavy performance usage.
Best,

It is possible to limit how many processing thread AMP engine uses. You can limit the number of processing thread available in the system settings -> Engine. Make sure the "Allow users to override" setting is unchecked.
Hope this helps.
