Hello all --
I am currently teaching a class of 60+ students, and we are trying to connect to a mysql database from Alteryx using ODBC and the Simba driver linked from the Alteryx website. Some of us (including me) have the option to bypass DCM when we set up a connection by unchecking the "Use Data Connection Manager (DCM)" checkbox:
___ Use Data Connection Manager (DCM)
When we uncheck this box, everything works fine.
However, quite a few students do not have this option in their versions of Alteryx Designer. When they try to connect, the DSN that they set up using the ODBC Data Source Administrator tool does not show up. What happened to this option, and is there now some other way to bypass DCM?
I appreciate any advice you can offer.

It sounds like the issue might be due to version differences or licensing. Ensure all students have the same version of Alteryx Designer and license type. Additionally, there might be installation variations or operating system differences affecting the functionality.
As a workaround, try standardizing the software environment for your students. Ensure everyone is using the same version of Alteryx Designer, with identical licenses and installation settings. Consulting the Alteryx community or their support team could also provide specific insights or updates regarding the issue.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for your insights, Douglas. At a public university, it's not practical to have the students all use the same laptop models and Windows versions. Right now, their instructions are to download the latest versions of Alteryx Designer Admin version. They are all using student licenses. I have verified that they are running the Admin version. I think someone from Alteryx needs to explain why this option would be in some scenarios and not others.

Hello! I have discovered how to get around this.
Under Options>User Settings>Edit User Settings scroll down in the General section until you reach the Override DCM Settings checkbox. Make sure it's checked and select 'DCM Optional' under DCM Mode. Click Save.
This will bring back that checkbox in the input configuration window!
