This was tricky working out what was replacing what.

Practised spatial process tools including cut from and combine and also summarise with spatial calculation.

Was amazed by the solution, which does not use any spatial tools for the same result.

Anybody noticed, that when you try solving them early in the morning, like at 7am you can't do anything, and then when it's 10 your brain started and suddenly the challenges become super easy?
That's such a weird phenomenon.

Really enjoyed this one; I don't use spatial tools all that much so it's always a joy.

Process:

1) Remove pieces from old states where new states have occupied them.

1.1) If multiple pieces were cut from a state, create an intersection object to reflect the "overall" cuts. (or do this in multiple steps).

2) Rio de Janeiro occupies old state Federal District.

Using the Spatial Process tool to either cut or combine polygons. Also used the summarise tool to create intersections

All the best,

BS
