I learned decades based upon what I have just found out is the Farmer's Almanac definition of decades - and under that definition the results are a bit different from those provided... More background to this methodology:

One other quick note - I believe the correct output as provided does not remove "the" from band names so that both "Beatles" and "The Beatles" are different band names.  While Discogs lists six bands whose names include "The Beatles" (including Ringo Starr and friends), there is apparently no band who decided to adopt "Beatles" as a name and attempt to launch a career.
