JOIN US FOR A VIRTUAL USER GROUP:
The Austin, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, St. Louis, and Twin Cities user group leaders would like to bring together all user groups in NA Central. For this meeting, the leaders want to bring some holiday cheer to your computer screens! We will be switching webinar platforms and utilize WebEx. WebEx will allow 2-way communication rather than 1-way like it has been for the past meetings.
Why are we switching things up? The leaders want to incorporate a hands-on portion and give you the opportunity to work alongside your peers!
Alteryx user groups provide an opportunity for Alteryx users to connect, share best practices, and improve skill sets that help maximize their potential with Alteryx. Whether you are a long time Alteryx user or just getting started, all are welcome to attend!

All,
Thank you for attending our first meetup of 2023. Bit of a rocky start, as I adjusted to driving the Zoom meeting myself, so I apologize for any confusion. I definitely need to work on my presentation skills, but hopefully there was some good material there. We had two presentations and provided some community updates. My presentation starts about 9 minutes in on the attached video and I covered a modular approach to building batch files for Tableau Server, utilizing Tabcmd. Process allowed for the batch creation of hundreds of PDF reports with multiple filters applied systematically using the Append tool, as the star of the show. The attached Append workbook, covers the process. Afterward, Sean Bolte (about 22 minutes in) presented an advanced use case of multiple tools and workflows for batch processing and data flow monitoring. Sean's process utilizes daisy chained event processing, report building, emailing updates, SharePoint lists, Python, Alteryx apps on Tableau server and a whole host of other tools to process and interact with the massive amounts of data his team has to work with on a daily basis. It was a fantastic presentation, hopefully it sparked ideas for the community. I mentioned we are planning to host the next meetup in person (I actually said virtual, so I'm hoping everyone was able to understand my intent, despite my awkward delivery), so I'm hoping to see everyone out in the next quarter. If you have thoughts, ideas or would like to speak, I would love to hear from you. I did also mention an employment opportunity with a heavy emphasis on Tableau developers (but Alteryx users are always warmly received), in case anyone is looking for a career change. Feel free to reach out or you can find more about that position on our website. Thanks to all for taking the time to join us, we really appreciate it.
Best Regards,
Michael & Ashley

Happy 2023!
We are looking forward to getting together digitally for our first meeting of 2023!
I will plan to add more details but wanted to give everyone a chance to block out their calendars. One of our local users, Sean Bolte, has agreed to present a very interesting use case that should present a great learning opportunity. The other content is to be determined, so if there is something that the group would like to explore, please reach out. I also want to mention that I would love for our second quarter meeting to be an in-person event, so any assistance with any space or ideas for a venue is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to an exciting 2023 with the group.

Kansas City Alteryx User Group 3Q22 Meeting Recap September 14, 1:00PM to 3:00PM CST
We had another great user group meeting last week, with some fantastic presentations and group interaction. I covered the community updates and highlights, including the 2022.1 release , as well as the upcoming Inspire EMEA in the Netherlands, for anyone in the region.
For our first presentation, Chad Martin from DataPrepU went over some great 'Alteryx Tips and Tricks'! Chad is the Founder and Managing Partner from Data Prep U and specializes in Alteryx, Tableau and Power BI. The firm provides solutions development, instructor-led training, certification boot camps and on-demand traing. They have a highly informative YouTube Page , and are great resource for all things data. I have also attached the zip file with Chad's workflow and presentation.
My favorite tip from the session dealt with preserving field order when cross tabbing a dataset, something I have struggled with many times. This can be solved with just a couple of extra tools and can save a great deal of hassle:
Note that this trick also saves field name spaces from transforming into underscores, another time saver. I have attached a simple workflow example.
For our final session, we had Adam Wilson, the former CEO of TriFacta present on the 'Designer Cloud Powered by Trifacta.' It was great to see the tool in action, along with the many improvements the team has implemented in the past several months. For anyone interested in a 30 day free trial, you will find it here: https://www.alteryx.com/products/designer-cloud-trifacta .
As mentioned, I have added the Alteryx Tips & Tricks PDF files that were published annually from 2015 to 2019, as I have a tough time finding them on community. Not sure they are being produced anymore, but there are a lot of great tips in the existing archives.
Additionally, if anyone attended and could fill out a survey, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to attend and interact with our presenters. If anyone has ideas or suggestions for upcoming meetings, we appreciate any input on timing, in-person or virtual, topics, complexity or other thoughts. Also anyone who would like to present, we would love the participation from the community. Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks to the sponsors of last night's meeting--our very own @alv728 from Continuus and Alteryx--for putting on a great event last night! There was a brilliant bit of K-means clustering to discover similar whiskeys from UK distilleries and we got to sample some of the lovely potent potables from Kansas City's own J. Rieger & Co Distillery. Our next user group meeting will be virtual, but hopefully we can get together in person again soon. Above is the tentative timeline and schedule for the next meeting, we are hoping to get a lot of interest. We do have an exciting agenda scheduled with @DataPrepChad from Data Prep U presenting some great tips and tricks and a presentation on Alteryx cloud.
Simply click "Yes" to RSVP and to see the event information.
If anyone has any specific questions, comments or thoughts for this or other meetings, feel free to reach out. We don't have to lock into this agenda, but I'm hoping to get it on everyone's schedule with plenty of time to plan and if we need to add a bit more time, we should be able to accommodate.
We hope you can attend!
