Field type is always changed lead to some execution error for the workflow

Hi Alteryx Engineer,

 

My scenario is  I place an empty excel file and I used a dynamic input tool to use it as a template , but seems it is empty all values are read as Double type, so I can't force change it to String type.  then I used one of the field inJoin tool, so if there is data flushed into this excel file , there is no error for execution, but if there is not , then I get "String fields can only be joined to other string fields" error. Any advice for avoid of this error?

@187 Is there any reason why you are using the blank excel file as a template in the dynamic input tool? I think by default the blank column will be converted as double in Alteryx.
