My solution is attached. I wound up using an append fields tool to append all records from the stores dataset to the warehouses dataset and using a distance tool to determine the distance between each store/warehouse pair. I then proceeded to use a summarize tool to group by store and determine the closest warehouse to each store. I see that the solution bypasses the aforementioned steps by simply using a find nearest tool. For some reason, it never occurred to me while going through the problem. Definitely need more practice with spatial tools!
