The trick was to edit the API key in the xml view, rather than copy/paste it directly in the Macro config window.

Solution 2 - very easy: adding additional folder:

Funny fact: few days after I first time had seen use case of this challenge, I had issues with macros in few workflows (path had changed). Using notepad was the fastest, because just Crlt+H was used.

Things I have done:

Spoiler
1. Insert the macro through right-clicking on Canvas
2. Open XML view of the inserted macro, and copy and paste the code from the broken macro
3. Change to relative path
4. Export the workflow into .yxzp

My solution:

Just inserted the downloaded macro and copied the XML.

Interesting to know I can adjust the location directly when opening the .yxmd and looking for the macro name.
