We recently held our Q2 meeting at COhatch in Broad Ripple. It was a a great opportunity to spend some time with some fellow Alteryx enthusiasts and pick up a few tips. The meeting began with introductions and then moved on to a continuation of our tool deep dive series which focused on the Parse category of tools.
@Kenda shared her very own macro called the DateTime KReW. Those familiar with the CReW macros will find some humor in her naming choice. Her take on the DateTime tool allows for multiple fields to be converted at once and also allows the user to update the existing field(s) instead of creating a new field or fields.
@patrick_digan walked us through some great ways to use the RegEx tool. This included tokenizing a string to rows and then using a formula tool to convert the individuals letters to hex format. He also shared an example of parsing consecutive digits from a string as well as showing how sensitive RegEx formulas can be. One extra or missing space can make or break a formula if it is not accounted for
@Desmond did a brief presentation on the Text To Columns tool. The often overlooked advanced options within the tool can be very powerful when used in the right situation. Pay attention to the "ignore delimiters" and "skip empty columns" options the next time you are in the tool and see how you can apply them to your workflow.

We wrapped up the meeting with a game of Alteryx themed Jeopardy. The Jeopardy board was created with an Alteryx workflow which was really cool. It was a close contest but the team of MedPro's @vbrown and IU's Rishi pulled out the victory and to take home some Alteryx swag. The questions and answers or is it the answers and questions (sorry for the bad Jeopardy joke) are attached so feel free to see how many you can answer...
