Hi everyone,
I am encountering an issue when attempting to connect my Alteryx Designer to the Alteryx Gallery. Although I have the latest version of Alteryx Designer installed, I am unable to connect to the Gallery and receive the following error message:
“You can only connect to an Alteryx Gallery running the same or newer version as the Alteryx Designer that you are running.”
I have access to the Alteryx Gallery via the web interface, but the connection through Designer fails, even though I have verified that my Designer is up-to-date.
Could you please assist me in troubleshooting this issue? I would appreciate any guidance or steps I can take to resolve this as soon as possible.
Thank you for your support.
@Mhmd Error message tells a reason. If we rephrase it, it says "version of Designer shall be always the same or older than that of Server".
(Designer) => (Server)
2022.3 => 2022.3 OK
2022.3 => 2023.1 OK
2022.3 => 2022.1 NG
2024.1 => 2023.2 NG *it may be applicable to your case
You can ask your IT admin team who actually know the version of Alteryx Server, and downgrade your Designer to the same version from the latest version.
thank you for your response,
My Alteryx designer version is: 2024.1.1.136
and my Company's Server version is 2024.1.1.49
are these two versions handled as a same version?
Thank you
Hi @Mhmd ,
They are both handled as the same version. Everything else after the YYYY.X are bug fixes.
You should be able to log in with that version, so I would try recreating the connection between your designer and server. The server URL that you have to use will look like this: HTTP://ServerorIP/gallery

Hi Fernando,
This is actually inaccurate: "They are both handled as the same version. Everything else after the YYYY.X are bug fixes."
Maybe it's the intended behavior, but I'm experiencing the exact same issues as the OP. The Patch level does matter, at least with the versions in play here: Patch 4 of Designer 2024.1 is unable to connect to Galleries at Patch level 3 or 1 of 2024.1. I've tested both.
Maybe it's a bug, but it's certainly an issue.
Thanks.
Hi @Staiph2000 ,
You are right. I have heard of many others experiencing this issue in 24.1, but it is an issue that Alteryx will hopefully fix soon.
For previous versions, the statement is correct.
Best,
