Hi everyone,
Is there a way to format an Excel output file? I wanted to do the following on my output file:
- column heading to be bold and highlighted with different color
- set column width for each columns
- set column height
- wrap text
- freeze column and rows
Happy holidays and thank you for your help.

Hi @fjlorenzo
You can create your own template and configure the Output to write to this template while preserving the format. Please refer to screenshots below. Cheers!

Hi @fjlorenzo
If you are trying to create this formatting inside of Alteryx to then output to an excel file. I answered your questions below and added a workflow for education purposes. You will have the option of setting up a template and using it as well as an output option while keeping the template formatting.
- column heading to be bold and highlighted with different color
- set column width for each column
- set column height
I'm not really sure what you mean by this, would it be row height?
- wrap text
This is something Alteryx does automatic when using the reporting tools
- freeze column and rows
If you are talking about freezing as in excel, it is not an option.
Pedro.

Hi @fjlorenzo
I did attach a WF to my previous post. I will attach it again. Please let us know if you have any issues finding the WF attached.
Additionally, please mark this discussion post as finished with an answer to the replies. This helps us all.

Hi, Render tool only overwrites a file. It will not append an existing sheet or over write an existing sheet. Any formatting solution for that?
Keeping the original format is not helping my output. it is keeping the original format only for columns that are not getting updated.
Thanks

Hi @DivRK,
If it makes you feel any better, I am also still having the same issue...when overwriting an existing sheet, only the columns unaffected will keep the original formatting of the excel sheet. If you found a solution to this, please let me know :)
