Dynamic DB connections

Current solution exists as such...

1. SQL server connections are created manually in an Alteryx "Import" file with all active SQL servers.  When a new server is added or removed, a dedicated user goes into the Workflow and creates or deletes the connection string / query.

2. They also modify the server listing on an internal Sharepoint site which is connected to in a different Workflow file at a later point.

Is it possible to simply read all of the servers from the Sharepoint file and then generate a dynamic connection to each server from that?  I can get an output from Sharepoint with the server name and write a formula with the connection string and query with no issues.  The issue is to create a dynamic connection to connect / query based on the number of servers listed that day in the file.  Is this possible in Alteryx?

Hi @MichaelNovo

It certainly is possible.

Depending on the structure of the underlying data you could either leverage Dynamic Input tool or build a custom batch macro (option #3 here).

Just connect a "Action" on top of your "Input" then you can see what parts of "Input" tool you can possible modify.

The "Action" tool is located in the Tools Tab called "Interface".

From there your a good starting place.

To complete it, just add "Control Parameter" Tool on top of the "Action" tool. and now you can pass in the SQL Connection information.  But you would also have to pass in the SQL Statement also.
