Problem Loading App - The App Interface cannot be loaded

I have a chained app (14 levels) that runs perfectly on my local machine but on the gallery stops before loading the 9th app where I get this: 

Things I have checked:

• The files passed from app 8 to app 9 are there on the gallery, correctly named
• There are no errors anywhere (gallery logs, worker logs, etc)
• The versions are all aligned to the gallery version
• The app set in "On Success" for App 8 is correctly pointed to app 9
• The file output of App 8 is correctly assigned to the input of App 9

Any ideas?

FYI on this issue from Alteryx Support: 

"You may want to know that there is a limit to the number of chained apps that you can have. It is around 7/8 apps. Using your example chained app, I will hit the limit with the following error on the 8th app.

This error can also be seen in the service log file. We have an existing request US22729 to increase the number of allowed chained apps. This is still under view, and we do not have the estimated time when this will be included. As such, do limit and try to combine the steps to reduce the number of chained apps."
