Changing settings for Explorer Box?

Given it's name, I'm assuming part of the original function of the 'Explorer Box" was to support underlying IE based access. With this current error -

where do we go in the engine path/settings/registry to be able to point this functionality to another default browser?

that's a good question, and unfortunately I don't think it's a changeable setting.
