Hello all,
There’s a chill in the air here in North America and the holiday season is in full swing, but that hasn’t prevented the team from delivering a tasty treat for community users.
Welcome to v4.2 of the Alteryx Community!
Community Content Translation
As we’ve expanded our footprint into new markets around the world, support for additional languages in community has been a popular request. We’ve heard your voices and are rolling out a brand new content translation feature today that will allow native language speakers to consume content and seamlessly engage with users in other locales around the world.
When browsing discussions, knowledge base articles, and blogs, registered members are able to translate content to French, German, and English via the drop down located near the top of the content area.
Please note: You must be logged-in to the community to view/use content translation at this time.
We’re accomplishing this with a sophisticated system that combines machine translation, glossaries of common Alteryx terms, and human intervention for select pieces of high value content. There’s also a learning component behind the scenes, which means that the more it gets used, the better it’ll get. It’s pretty cool stuff.
We want to set proper expectations that the quality of translated content may vary. We’re leveraging the best translation technologies we could get our hands on for this purpose, but it should be noted that machine translation is still in its infancy. The good news is that the infrastructure we’ve put in place will allow us to evolve the speed and quality of translations we can deliver as new advancements of the tech become available.
Give it a go and let us know what you think. We’ll be deploying support for additional languages and more areas of the community in the future.
We are actively seeking native french and german speakers to help optimize the quality of translations across the Community. If this is something you'd be interested in, please let us know.
