One of the differences between Designer Desktop and Designer Cloud during the workflow development stage is that in Designer Cloud the data passes through the tool added without clicking on RUN; whereas in Designer Desktop, a user needs to click on RUN to see how each tool transforms the data (data will be immediately available for you in the result panel - IRG on Designer Cloud)
This is by design and will save you some 'clicks' during your designing time. Keep in mind that the RUN button in Designer Cloud is disabled unless you bring an output tool to the canvas and configured it,
