once I saw all the padleft formulas in the comments, I realized that probably would have saved me all the time/tools I used to return blanks for nulls and also accommodate "10", "11", and "12" as 2-digit normal time hours.

used DateTime function to convert string into dates, however, did not know how to get rid of the seconds

This one took me time as I had a long-winded solution using the tools. I then added a shorter version using formulas - once i got to grip with them. Anyway both solutions are added.

Could someone let me know what is wrong with the following approach:-

Isn't the time difference between 8:15 AM and 10:45 AM going to be 2 hr and 30 mins, how is the soln given as 1 hr and 50 mins.
