Tips on how to study for the core certification exam

Hi everyone,

So far the interactive lessons are easy to follow along; however, I don't think just went through the lessons are enough to pass the exam. Can anyone share their tips on how to study and pass the core certification exam?

Hi @tamhonguyen ,

There are a lot of resources available on Community and in the product to help you prepare for the exam.  Here is a sequence that could be beneficial when preparing for the exam.

1.  Getting Started Learning Path (This will include many of the interactive lessons you mentioned already, but it will also include links to helpful articles, practice problems and applications.)  https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Learning-Paths/Getting-Started-Learning-Path/ta-p/475117

2.  Weekly Challenges (I would attempt at least 5 of the challenges.  Focus on the beginner level challenges at first, but it would be beneficial to attempt a few of the intermediate challenges as well before you take the exam.  Be sure to check out the solutions posted by other users for additional insights.)  https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Weekly-Challenge/bd-p/weeklychallenge

3.  The Core Certification Prep Guide and Practice Exam (There is a .pdf and interactive version of the prep guide available.)  https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Exam-Prep/tkb-p/exam-prep

4.  Core Certification Prep Videos (There is a series of four videos on the exam.  The first three are mostly instructional videos on the content of the exam.  The last one goes over the exam structure, interface, test tips, etc.) https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Videos/Video-Training-Index/td-p/45161

5.  Take the exam.  There is no penalty if you fail the exam the first time you take it, and when you are done you will receive an email with your score broken down by category.  Use that feedback to focus your preparations on your weaker points, and after seven days try again.  Once you have put in a good amount of time preparing for the exam, the best preparation is simply to take it.

There are other great resources that can be beneficial as well.

- Discussion board posts and knowledge base articles in Community

- Alteryx help documentation

- One tool examples and sample workflows in Designer

If you have any other questions about the exam, please feel free to reach out to certification@alteryx.com.

All the best,

Eric
