How to Master Transpose and Crosstab Tools

Hello all! I am trying to learn the Transpose and Crosstab tools. I can understand the concepts, but every time there is a new problem, I have to try many different configurations to get to the output I want...visualizing the output is not intuitive for me...Does anyone have any similar experience or advice on how to get better at the tools?
