Hi,
I am trying to send email with texts referring to particular cells in fields to end user. In report text tool you can only refer to entire column (field) not the individual cells in that column. I have attached sample data set I am trying to write text on. Kind of commentary that I want to write is given below. Also I want to customize numbers with $, %, +, - as the case may be. Thanks
-Network VCPU: $2.16 for the week; 15.1% unfavorable vs. whole Jan Plan, +$0.032 vs Wk50
-Inbound UPH: 77.8 for the week, +2.6% vs. plan of 75.8; -4.7% vs. Wk50
-Outbound UPH: 26.6 for the week, -14.0% vs. plan of 31.0; +1.0% vs. Wk50
-Fixed (Support) Hours: 106k for the week, -3.0% vs. Wk50
-Total UPH: 34.5 for the week, +2.0% vs. plan of 33.9 (whole Jan); -1.6% vs. Wk50
You could do a formula tool and create a new field with the text you want while referring to the specific fields. And then feed that new field into the email tool.
Yes I can create formula fields to get the format I want but how I can refer individual cell under those fields to write the dynamic email body I want to write as shown above. In report text it selects full column not individual cell values.
What do you mean by "cell"? Do you mean filter for a particular row? Can't you do that with a filter tool?
Ok so you mean to say that I can filter above data set to individual row level so as to have different column/field names for each value. Then how I will combine all the individual row data outputs to connect to one report text tool so that all fields are available for write up in one report text tool?
Also if my column headers in above dataset are also dynamic, how I can include that too in my email body i.e. report text tool?
You can filter for individual rows, yes.
I'd suggest checking out the Tool Mastery Index for the Filter Tool, Join, Union, and Report Text. Hard to tell how to solve your specific problem but most likely will be done with a combination of those tools.
