Along with a collogue, I've been having a problem with Alteryx Desktop loading very slowly.
I don't mean that a particular workflow is taking a long time to load (although that's true of many of our workflows). I just mean starting the application itself takes ~30m. The Alteryx pop-up appears quite quickly, but it's a good half hour until the application itself loads.
This is a fairly recent problem. Alteryx was never the fastest loading programme, but it's been particularly bad lately.
Anyone else have the same problem?
My initial thought was that maybe the Autosave or temp file locations were getting bloated, but the fact that a colleague of yours is experiencing it as well and it is recent makes me think that it could be related to a recent upgrade if you had one or possibly something environmental within your company.
Probably best to open up a support ticket for this case
Another thing to check...
Check on your battery settings in Windows! If your setting is not on "Best Performance", it is likely that it isn't using the CPU at its highest ability. I immediately noticed better performance in Designer after making the change. You may want to keep the On Battery setting to Balanced if you want longer battery life when you don't have your laptop plugged in.
When Alteryx loads, it loads a bunch of ini files etc to configure your workspace. These will come from the ProgramData either in "C:\ProgramData\Alteryx" or "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Alteryx\..." by default. If those locations are networked or having some security run over them, then maybe it's triggering a security check (firewall or scanner).
Otherwise, possible that your org has implemented security on Python for instance and so on load Alteryx is having trouble initialising. Half hour is long though... I would expect timeouts. If it's just started, then I would bet on an environmental change.
Also, if you have macro repositories set up that may be in locations difficult to access (this would normally time out and just not show up though).
