Calculating differences between data in triangular format

Hello,

I have two sets of triangle data and my goal is to calculate the differences between the triangles.

I was able to do that using many many formula tools in the workflow attached, but I am looking for a shortcut to replace all these formula tools.

My guess is that the multi-field formula tool should be involved, but I am not sure how to use it for this problem.

Thank you for helping out!  I have attached the input dataset and workflow.

Hi @jaydelim16, here are two options that you can use.

Very helpful to look over the tools that you used, thank you!!

1.  Is there a way to show all 3 triangles side by side (like option 1 of my original workflow)?

2.  How can I sort the quarters in the output by year for each analysis group?

So 3-31-14, 6-30-14, 9-30-14, 12-31-14, 3-31-15, 6-30-15, 9-30-15, 12-31-15, etc. instead of

3-31-14, 3-31-15, 6-30-14, 6-30-15, 9-30-14, 9-30-15, 12-31-14, 12-31-15, etc.
Thank you!

1. You can just join the result of the first cross tab with the J anchor from the first join.

2. I'm sorry but I don't understand what you want there. If you could please provide an example with actual data.

Sure!  This first screenshot is your output:

Below is what I am looking for:

So it's a matter of rearranging the "Quarter" field.

Thank you!!

You just need to sort based on the Quarter field. Here is the updated workflow.

Thank you so much - very helpful!
