It’s June, and our May release is happening a bit later than normal, but that also means that we get to celebrate PRIDE MONTH with this edition of our Community Highlights and Release Blog theme! We won’t be talking history or anything non-community related, but there may or may not be some rainbows peppered in throughout the blog.  So without further ado, let’s get into it and have a gay old time!

Need to Know

The main focus of this month’s sprint was all things Certification! In the Alteryx Academy, we are preparing to launch a new certification, so stay tuned for when that goes live. We also updated the behavior of the exams our Partners can take. Partner exams are now fully integrated into our certification system, so rather than having to email our team, partners can click the take exam button and go straight into the certification, just like Core and Advanced. Partner exams will also now follow the same cool-down timelines and attempt rules as Core and Advanced. For more information on this, check out our Certification Policies and Guidelines.

The Academy category level also got a refresh and is now sporting a new carousel to showcase new interactive lessons, learning paths, weekly challenges and any other fun new features we create. However, there’s more to this redesign than just the carousel so stay tuned for future announcements!

Finally, we’ve corrected a hand full of bugs and issues reported to us by you, the users! Gallery should now respect the datetime format in your personal settings, and we’ve also corrected a handful of small design issues as a follow up to our recent refresh. We also corrected the issue on mobile where the Load More button on the home page wasn’t clickable.

We’ve got lots of good stuff coming up in the next few sprints, and due to this we’ll be taking a longer than usual one over the next month and a half. We’ll miss you in the meantime and look forward to showing you all the good things we got cooking!

Community News

It’s been a BIG month for the Community.  In case you hadn’t heard, we had a little in-person event called Inspire in beautiful Denver, Colorado! This was the first big event we’ve held in over two years, and it was absolutely incredible to get to finally meet so many of you face to face. It’s truly the power of community that brings people together, and when you see someone and get a chance to make a connection in person, it just strengthens that relationship. We had an amazing thread in the Inspire Buzz that over 80 people participated in to share their excitement about seeing each other – give a review if you haven’t already had the chance!  We also had over 3,000 digital badges that were earned from attendees at Inspire, had 4 podcast episodes recorded at the conference, and some wonderful sessions hosted by our various community members!  Oh, and if you didn’t hear, our own community member and ACE, Claire McCollough ( @clmc9601 ) WON THE GRAND PRIX!!! It was truly an Inspire-ing event, and I’m now chomping at the bit for next year!

We also announced our Excellence Award Winners for the Americas! These awards are no small feat, as they are peer submitted and reviewed by a panel here at Alteryx. The winners are listed below!

  • Catalyzer – the best democratization of data
Fiona Gordon, Global Director BI Strategy & Enablement, Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL). North America
  • Pioneer – the most innovative use of advanced analytics
Rufus Cochran, Data Scientist, Roche Diagnostics. North America
  • Performer – the greatest quantifiable business results
Leandro Ygor Loli, Business Analyst, Gradus Consulting. Brazil
  • For Good – the greatest use of data for good
Brad Fulton, Associate Professor, Indiana University. North America
  • Disruptor – the most data-led business transformational change:
Jeff Neklason, Incentive Compensation Manager, Petco. North America

Finally, we had an AMAZING panel discussion with cofounder of Alteryx, Dean Stoecker!  It’s a big deal when you get someone at that level to do a community event (though Dean has always loved the community, which is absolutely awesome. Dean was joined by Alteryx’s very first employee, Amy Holland, and long-time customer and ACE Mark Frisch!  It was a wild ride of reminiscing and sharing some amazing tips about what they’ve learned over the years (and also some really great memories shared). Be on the lookout for many more community events coming in the future!

Read & Listen

Over on the Alter Everything podcast, Alteryx associates Dr. Erica Reuter and Sergeant Melanie Goulette joined us to share how they used analytics in their past lives in the U.S. Military and law enforcement to make an impact in their communities. They also shared cybersecurity tips and talked about how important it is to avoid bias in your data analysis. Listen here.

And don’t miss the blogs that detail two big announcements made at Inspire: the latest version of Alteryx, and our new Data Essentials courses on the community. Catch up on all the blogs here.

Closing

OK, we’ve covered a lot of information here, and there’s one thing I’ve got to say to close us out this month – since it’s Pride Month, I just have to say how PROUD I am to be a part of this community and get to see all of the wonderful interactions and things that you all do to help each other here.  I probably sound like a broken record by now, but this is truly a special place on the internet, and one that I hope none of us take for granted.  Until next time, y’all have a great month!
