- the classic "isHole" flag
- the second is splitting into distinct regions, and then looking for the biggest area, and filtering out the others

since the poly split tool creates a "Split is hole" field, you can use that to remove the holes:

Either filter out the holes, or combine them back together with a summimage.pngarize tool
