This one took a bit. My solution is different to the posted one in that I used three functions in a formula tool to calculate the weekdays rather than the variety of tools used in the solution.

I'm surprised that that Alteryx doesn't have a NETWORKDAYS() like function from excel....but oh well!

So it looks like I took the same approach as the solution except that I split it into two data streams, one for each pay period, and then joined them back together. I didn't have to do that, but it was less cluttered and easier for me to look at.
