whaaaa... I think I over-thought this one (Directory tool was unnecessary). Solution attached!

While probably not the most efficient method, I decided to first read all the files in one long dataset, with a file name and a counter for each row and then filter the result I'm after. The result is a quick fix, but will look through the other solutions here to see how I can only read the useful data from the beginning to save processing time if possible.
